Huge crowds at the Christmas market in Pemming: the village community is very happy.

Pemmering

- "It was amazing," says Marlene Geyer about the seventh Advent magic that the village community of Pemmering and Mittbach organized at the weekend.

Because what began 40 years ago on the initiative of the former landlady Otti Pointner with the sale of Advent wreaths and mulled wine after church on Sundays has now developed into a popular and well-attended pre-Christmas market.

The 80 decorated Advent wreaths, which the women of the village community tied and decorated together from donated branches, as well as another 80 undecorated wreaths, were sold out after just a few hours on Saturday afternoon.

And the food, which was actually intended for Sunday morning, was already running out in the afternoon hours.

"I had to send people to go shopping so that we still have sausages and rolls to sell today," Geyer reported on Sunday.

As always, the village community has prepared the magic of Advent.

Whether by tying the wreaths together or by making numerous donations such as crocheted doilies, wooden bowls or candlesticks - the people of Pemmering and Mittbach have shown a sense of community.

"This year we even had 34 different types of cookies," says Geyer proudly.

The Freischützen, the parish council and the rural youth, who set up the stands, also helped out.

Local brass bands provided atmospheric musical entertainment.

And as always, the proceeds from the entire sale will be used for social purposes, this year it will go to the Intern 3 parents' initiative in the Hauner children's clinic in Munich and, for the first time, to a local family.

Alois Fruth, chairman of the Children's Cancer Aid, is from Pemmering and well connected in the village.

He took part in the magic of Advent with a wheel of fortune, where not only could attractive prizes be won with one spin, but children with cancer and their parents could also be supported.

For the people from the village, the Advent market is much more than just an opportunity to stock up on Christmas things.

This is where people meet for talks, mulled wine and Platzerln.

Geyer reports that the room in the vicarage, which will be available after the market has moved, was particularly popular with older visitors.

"It's nice that it's been so well received," said visitor Leonhard Hobmaier on Sunday morning.

He stopped by after church.
