Based on the importance of the intangible heritage of the city of Aleppo, the National Book House in Aleppo hosted this evening a traditional concert as part of the Syrian Culture Days celebration.
The concert, which was performed by the singer Adel Jisri and the singer Adnan Jisri, and organized by the Directorate of Intangible Heritage in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture in Aleppo, included the presentation of wonderful colors of the arts of authentic music, moving between Qudud, stanzas, and poems, as well as providing an introduction to the greats of the authentic Aleppo art, namely Muhammad Khairy. And Sabri Mudalal, presented by the evening’s supervisor, Eng. Mustafa Arab.
The director of culture, Jaber al-Sajour, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the ceremony is the third of its kind within the days of Syrian culture, and comes within the framework of emphasizing the civilized role of the city of Aleppo, which has given birth over many decades to intellectual, artistic and cultural figures, and has always been a forerunner of art, not only at the local level. And the singer Adel Jisri stated that he grew up in an artistic family, starting with his brother Dhafer, a researcher in musical sciences, until his brother, the singer Adnan, who in turn explained that he lived with the artist Muhammad Khairy and worked with him for six years, and learned from him the origins of art and original music, indicating that he has been practicing tarab singing since a year. 1986, and today he participated in the Syrian Culture Days to introduce the unknown artistic legacy of artist Mohamed Khairy.
Engineer Mustafa Arab confirmed that Aleppo is a city characterized by its original artistic richness, and the people in it are connoisseurs of this art, so the interest was in presenting some of the artistic legacy of both Muhammad Khairy and Sabry Mudallal, and informing the audience of the aesthetics of the arts of the greats of the authentic Aleppo music.
Nawras Jisri, the conductor of the orchestra, stated that the band has been seeking to document and preserve the heritage and original music since its inception, pointing out that the band is working tirelessly to create new melodies worthy of the city of Aleppo and to increase its participation at the local, Arab and international levels.
