Eckart Würzner is entering his third term as mayor of Heidelberg.
According to the city, 54.03 percent of voters voted for the non-party 61-year-old in the second round on Sunday.
His challenger, Baden-Württemberg's former Science Minister Theresia Bauer (Greens), only got 42.42 percent of the votes.
Heidelberg – Bauer had given up her post in the state government to replace Würzner, who was supported by the CDU and FDP.
Far behind was Björn Leuzinger from the satirical party The Party with 3.31 percent.
Around 107,000 eligible voters in the university town were invited to vote.
Voter turnout was 44.16 percent.
In the first ballot three weeks ago, none of the then nine candidates had received an absolute majority of more than 50 percent of the votes.
So it was chosen again.
On November 6, Würzner was also far ahead.
