The board of directors of the "Mühlfeldler Gmoa" wants to tie in with old times in the reopened "Bräustüberl" in Tölz.

The club is looking for new members.

Bad Tölz

– Two years of the corona pandemic and the closure of the Tölz “Bräustüberl” have hit the “Mühlfeldler Gmoa” hard.

The regulars' table members spread to other restaurants, and 14 members died.

But now the turbulence seems to be over.

The board of directors is working on a new beginning, hoping for returnees and trying to recruit new members.

After the Second World War: Four district communities in Bad Tölz

After the Second World War, four "district communities" with a mayor and a municipal council were formed in Bad Tölz.

The "Mühlfelder Gmoa" met in the "Bräustüberl", the "Kohlstattler" had their home in the "Jägerwirt", the "Hintersbergler" in the "Poststüberl" and the "Griesler" in the "Schletzbaum" on the S-curve of Lenggrieser Straße.

The only community left is the "Mühlfeldler Gmoa", which has also been struggling with problems for two years.

Basically, the district communities were neighborhood help associations.

Craftsmen and business people supported each other: "If someone needed new window frames, for example, then they knew who to turn to," explains Georg Gmeiner, who has been chairman of the "Mühlfeldler Gmoa" since 2004.

If a member got into trouble, he was helped.

Excursions, celebrations and putting up the maypole strengthened the feeling of togetherness.

"Everyone should feel comfortable in their district," says Gmeiner.

There was a big turning point on March 17, 2020, when Heidi Königbauer retired as landlady of the "Tölzer Bräustüberl".

"This was also the end of an era for Mühlfelder Gmoa," says treasurer Jürgen van Wahnem.

The "Rathaus" had been closed.

The Gmoa members hoped for a quick reopening, but that didn't happen due to the corona pandemic.

The jewel in the Mühlfeld was orphaned, the regulars' table communities were distributed to other pubs in the city area.

The renovation began in spring 2021, and the restaurant was reopened on May 9 of this year.

According to van Wahnem, the refurbishment was "exemplary".

And yet, when it reopened, nothing was the same, says Gmeiner: "You used to know everyone - the landlady, the guests, the restaurant.

It's a different atmosphere now.

Preparations are underway for the Christmas party

The "Gmoa" is satisfied with the new host: "He supports us at the Christmas party and has put our regulars' table with the historic regulars' table sign in the common room." Gmeiner's appeal is: "Our members should think about it.

It's up to them to accept all of this." Second Mayor Karl Heinz Kral confirms this: "It's the people who bring life to the house." Van Wahnem appeals: "Mühlfeldler Gmoa mustn't go down the drain and die.

We work our asses off to make sure that doesn't happen.”

Shortly before the "Bräustüberl" reopened, the "Mühlfeldler Gmoa" set up a maypole in front of a few hundred visitors.

An annual dinner and an annual fair are planned.

Preparations are currently underway for the Christmas party on Saturday, December 3rd, from 7 p.m. in the "Bräustüberl".

The evening is musically designed by the "Wackersberger Zithermusi", Franz Apfel speaks contemplative words.

There will be a raffle and free beer.

"We hope this is a wake-up call," says Kral.

The aim is for the number of members to increase from the current 159 to the previous level – over 200.
