Île-de-France Mobilités plans to increase the metro ticket to 2.30 euros in 2023

2022-11-28T09:45:00.394Z

The Ile-de-France transport authority must find additional revenue to balance its budget. Several scenarios are under consideration.

Bad news for Ile-de-France residents, the amount of the metro ticket could skyrocket from January 1, 2023. Currently at 1.90 euros, the unit ticket would drop to 2.30 euros, a jump of 21%.

The trend is similar for the booklet of 10, the amount of which would increase from 14.90 euros to 17.90 euros in its dematerialized version and from 16.90 euros to 20.30 euros in paper.

This full-bodied addition is the result of a deliberation by Île-de-France Mobilité (IDFM) revealed by BFM Paris Île-de-France and consulted by Le Figaro.

This is currently only one scenario among others.

Ile-de-France Mobilités must indeed find a way to balance its budget burdened by the rise in the cost of energy and inflation.

Among the tracks considered, a large state subsidy of up to 650 million euros.

If necessary, the increase in ticket prices could be avoided.

Another scenario: sharing the effort.

Here all financiers would put their hands in the pot equally.

Communities would increase their payment by 7.5%.

Companies would see the rate of the mobility payment rise by the same amount and the same for the price of tickets.

It is only if the two different scenarios do not succeed that the authority will have to rest a large part of the effort on the users.

The final decision must be considered at the next board meeting to be held on December 7.

Navigo pass at 90 euros

A news that quickly caused a reaction.

Asked at the microphone of RMC, the Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, said "

not to wish for an increase of such magnitude

".

However, he insisted on the limited means of action of the government: “

it is not the State which sets the prices

”, returning the responsibility to the region.

At the same time, government spokesman Olivier Véran stressed that "

this is not the right time

" for such an increase.

We put, we State around the table, with the services of the region to identify the ways and means to avoid an increase as significant as that which has been cited

”, he added.

This information follows the announcement concerning the Navigo Pass.

Currently at 75.20 euros per month, Valérie Pécresse threatened to raise it to 100 euros before announcing a more moderate increase.

The Île-de-France region must face a “

budgetary hole

” of 950 million euros to complete its 2023 budget. Of this sum, 500 million would already be “

secured

”, assures Île-de-France-Mobilities.

It therefore lacks 450 million euros.

To avoid having to rely too much on travelers, the region wants to solicit businesses in the Ile-de-France region by increasing a tax, the mobility payment.
