A new initiative in the Jerusalem municipality:
a GIS map with all the landmark points of the monuments and municipal commemorative plaques in the city.
The map will be available to the general public and will include information on the location of the monument, the names of the fallen, details of the event and a photo.
The mapping process began as early as 2021. 96 out of 132 monuments of the municipality and the Ministry of Defense that are within the boundaries of Jerusalem have already been mapped and the information about them is accessible to the public.
The process is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2023 and the data will be available to the public on the municipal website.

Simultaneously with the launch of the map on the municipal website, the municipality is promoting a project to replace seven memorial plaques that were vandalized or pirated in the streets of the Old City.
The existing signs will be replaced with uniform signs such as the signs posted throughout the city.
The move was carried out in coordination with the families of the martyrs, the Israel Police and the Antiquities Authority.
The mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, welcomed the project: "All the information about the monuments of our heroes is accessible and immediate. The legacy of the martyrs of the city of Jerusalem and its heroes is immortalized in an important project like no other. I welcome the digital move that makes the special story of each fallen person accessible to everyone."
