The first to pay the price is channel 13, which at the beginning of the event seemed to have entered the bunker and given up on the screen without a fight, but channel 14 is also losing viewers every day, precisely when it started to gain momentum and take off

The Likud may want to (again) close the corporation, but at least in the viewing sector, here 11 is seeing quite a bit of satisfaction these days.

It was expected, but it also beat the predictions: according to the first week of the tournament, the 2022 World Cup is shaping up to be one of the most watched in history, at least in Israel.

The soccer World Cup competition, most of which is broadcast in Israel by Kaan 11, has so far achieved excellent ratings, by the way, throughout the day (the games are broadcast starting at 11:00 a.m.), and the broadcasting corporation is doing everything it can to leverage the one-time event ( until the next World Cup), to get the audience used to pressing 11 on the remote even the day after.

Opposite, in the commercial channels, there are those who prepared more and those less for the aggressive competition - and now pay the prices accordingly.

Keshet Hakhaka also decreased in the last week in terms of viewership, but a combination of programming aimed at a female audience and "fats" allow it to stay above water.

The scope of viewing does not end only with the ratings committee's analyses, but also concentrates mainly on the digital sector: in less than a week, the corporation's new application - here BOX ranks first in total downloads on Google Play and Android TV

As mentioned, in the week that has passed since the World Cup began, here 11 dominates prime time in almost every game, while its "Evening News" edition passes the 13 network every day.

However, it should be noted that in contrast to the low prime (last week "The Source" reached a viewing bottom of 3.1%), News 13 still manages to maintain a minimal viewer base.

The estimates are that since this is the World Cup broadcast for the first time in the winter, the viewing percentages will increase even more as the tournament progresses, also in relation to the previous one.

For comparison, in the 2018 World Cup the highest rating was in the final match between France and Croatia (broadcast time at 18:00) with 37.2% (1.3 million viewers) and 1.42 in the peak (high point).

In 2022, already in the group stage, the Argentina-Mexico match in the evening achieved 24.1% viewership, leading the evening of broadcasts by a margin, and in the watched minute even reached a gap of thousands of individual viewers from Keshet's News 12 edition.

The scope of viewing does not end only with the analyzes of the ranking committee, but also concentrates mainly on the digital sector: in less than a week, the corporation's new application - here BOX ranks first in total downloads on Google Play and Android TV.

Despite the special studio - the production is cheap from 2018

For those of the members of the coalition who are worried about the fate of the public's money, we are told that this year's expected revenues from advertising during the World Cup broadcasts in the corporation are estimated at at least NIS 17 million and are expected to cover the production costs

Broadcast rights for the last two World Cups (Russia and Qatar) originate from agreements signed by the Broadcasting Authority.

The delegation of the Broadcasting Corporation to the World Cup games in Qatar, for the purpose of operating the month of broadcasts here 11, here network B, here 33 in Arabic, here digital (the entire digital array) and here news, numbers 67 men and women, who will arrive in the country in several shifts (not at the same time).

This number also includes a relatively expanded security team required due to the broadcast from Qatar.

The team operates - for the first time in the history of the Israeli public broadcasting service - a broadcast studio in the country itself where the games are held, from where all broadcasts will be transmitted.

Despite all of this, the total cost of the preparation-the corporation, the operation and the production is about two million shekels cheaper compared to the previous World Cup in Russia, and is estimated at about 15 million shekels compared to 17 million in the previous World Cup (even though in the previous World Cup, as mentioned, no studio was established in Russia).

Another interesting fact that illustrates the dynamic nature of watching the World Cup, is actually the birth of a new prime time - throughout the day - in accordance with the games.

For example, in the following graph you can see how the four games broadcast on a certain day produce "peaks" that indicate increased content consumption from workplaces as well.
