Sources in the underworld fear that the crime war will spill over into the public, following the killing last night (Sunday) of the criminal Rafi Ben Shalom, the nephew of the criminal Michael Mor.

For years, the crime battles were fought in the backyard of the North, and among those elements there is a concern that they will once again be flooded into the spotlight, in a way that will also harm the innocent.

At the end of a night meeting convened by the commander of the Coast District, the investigation of the murder was assigned to the central unit of the Coast District, "due to the figures involved."

At the same time, the investigation of the shooting at the home of the elderly woman in Haifa, who was moderately injured, was assigned to the crime fighting unit of the Carmel area.

The two events, which took place about eight kilometers apart, are not related to each other.

Rafi Ben Shalom was well known to the police, not only because he was a relative of his criminal uncle, Michael Mor.

In 2006, the "vengeful policemen" from Hariy teamed up to hurt Moore and him.

A bomb was placed on the windowsill of his house, and exploded.

No one was hurt by the force of the explosion and the spraying of the metal pellets, but damage was caused.

His mother then described how at 4 o'clock in the morning, while she and her 10-year-old son were sleeping in the living room of the house, a "tremendous explosion" was heard which she described as "a real boom, just like Katyusha".

In 2015, Ben Shalom was convicted based on his confession of two attempted murders of figures identified with Shmulik Harosh, Michael Mor's bitter rival.

The original indictment in this trial describes the "blood feud" between Michael Mor, then a resident of Nahariya, and his associates, whom the prosecutor's office then called the "Moor group", and Shmulik Harosh, a resident of Nahariya even today, who at the time was in prison, and his associates, the "Hrush group" .

According to the indictment in which he was convicted, Rafi Ben Shalom and his friend, Naim Naftali from Tirat Carmel, tried to attach a bomb to the car of Avihai Elosh, brother of Ziv Elosh, one of the dealers in the Harush group.

They were interrupted during their work by a passerby and left the place.

In another case, Ben Shalom managed to attach a powerful bomb to the car of Harush's brother-in-law, whose husband is a postal worker of Harush's sister, who was serving in the regular army at the time.

The husband left the house, went to his Harlingo to pick up his son from kindergarten, then noticed wires under the vehicle.

He looked under the car, discovered the bomb and called the police - who neutralized it without exploding.

In a plea deal hired by lawyers Doron Noy and Yaheli Sperling, Rafi Ben Shalom's lawyers who also represent Michael Mor on a permanent basis, with the North District Attorney's Office, Ben Shalom was then sent to prison for only three years.

He had previous prison terms for violent crimes, extortion by threats and mere threats, hit and run, obstruction of justice, impeachment in an investigation and obstructing a police officer.

The conflict of that time, between the "Moor Group" and the "Hrush Group" still exists, and it is suspected that the parties are plotting to harm each other.

About a year ago, an attempt was made to eliminate another nephew of Michael Mor.

The nephew and his half-brother were seriously injured in the explosion, the ink of which shook Nahariya.

Shmulik Harush was even arrested then with two of his soldiers.

They denied any connection to what was attributed to them and after a while they were all released.

So far this double murder attempt has not been solved.

Last night, Rafi Ben Shalom was shot to death on Etzel Street in Carmel Castle. The MDA team that was called to the scene found him unconscious and gave him initial medical treatment.

He was taken to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa while CPR was performed - but he was later pronounced dead there. The police were called to the scene and began searching. An investigation was opened.

At the same time, an 85-year-old woman was moderately wounded by a gunshot on Baruch Cohen Street in Haifa. MDA medics and paramedics who were called to the scene gave her Medical treatment and she was evacuated to the Rambam Hospital while she is fully conscious and suffering from penetrating injuries. The police were also called to the scene and an investigation was opened.
