The economic and energy crisis were the main topics of the IHK regional committee meeting in Mammendorf.

Company bosses shared their concerns.

Mammendorf – The deputy IHK general manager for Munich and Upper Bavaria, Peter Kammerer, spoke of an “uncertainty shock” at the meeting.

The companies do not know how to proceed.

A good order situation is useless if you have to cope with rising costs, problems with suppliers and logistics, and a shortage of skilled workers.

"At ten percent, we currently have the highest inflation since 1950," said Kammerer.

Driven by the energy problem

Inflation is being driven by the energy issue.

The situation on the gas and electricity market has deteriorated dramatically.

According to the energy transition barometer, 44 percent of companies say that they are no longer competitive in Germany, in industry it is 63 percent.

One in five companies is considering moving parts abroad.

"We need a medium- and long-term strategy for securing our energy production," says Kammerer.

He considers it negligent to talk about a blackout.

"But I think we have a tough couple of years ahead of us."

Christian Huber from the building materials center in Olching reported on extreme price increases for certain trades.

In addition, the price explosions have led to fewer buildings being built.

Orders are still being processed, but there are hardly any new ones.

"There is currently no planning security," said restaurateur Harry Faul from the Maisacher Bräustüberl.

His biggest problem is the lack of staff.

Temporary workers who used to cover peak times no longer exist.

How do the brakes work?

Gerhard Kohlfürst from the Fürstenfelder restaurant reported on gas and electricity contracts expiring at the end of the year.

"Everyone is talking about price brakes, but nobody knows what they look like and who they affect," he criticized.

The Olchinger Braumanufaktur has terminated the regional electricity provider.

"That's why I can't increase the case of beer by 25 percent," said boss Guido Amendt.

"For us as a brewery, energy prices are a debacle."

Rising prices and energy costs are annoying, said Sandra Pabst, Managing Director of Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH from Germering.

"But in our company they are still within limits." Rather, your company is struggling with the rising personnel costs in order to remain competitive.

"I believe that this energy crisis is just as finite as the Corona crisis," said Jürgen Biffar, founder of DocuWare GmbH from Germering.

The shortage of skilled workers is worse.

In the last 20 years, politicians have refused to pass a sensible immigration law.

"To be on the safe side, we have already reactivated an old oil tank," reported Maik Horbas, general manager at Cewe-Color from Germering, even if energy does not play such a major role in his company.

Rather, the price increases for the raw material paper are a major burden for the company.
