The tourism officer presented plans to make the Ammer-Amper cycle path even more attractive.
But the interactive circular route is met with skepticism.
Moosburg/Haag/Langenbach
– Lapwing, Stork & Co. in Batzenmoos: That not only sounds extraordinary, what is hidden behind it is also extraordinary.
The district, together with other organizations, is planning to upgrade the Ammer-Amper cycle path north of Thonstetten with an adventure trail.
The loop is supposed to be five kilometers long, and half of the costs are subsidized.
The planning committee of the district supports the plans, but wants to see further details of the project before the decision is taken.
Just by looking at who has teamed up for this project, you can see how important it is: The departments of leisure & tourism, nature conservation & regional planning of the district office, the Freising educational region, the landscape conservation association and ILE Kulturraum Ampertal want to realize the themed trail that connects the Ammer -Amper cycle path supplemented by a circular path.
Ammer-Amper cycle path - nature should be experienced interactively
The aim of the circular route, which would be on the corridors of the city of Moosburg and the communities of Haag and Langenbach, is to experience the natural environment through interactive elements and to learn how to behave towards nature in a sustainable manner.
Target groups are cyclists, nature lovers, day trippers and schools.
And one has already considered possible stations that could be created on the circular route through the Batzenmoos, as the area is called, as Martina Mayer from the tourism department explained in her presentation to the district councils.
There could be a platform for a stork nest, places where you can see an alder beech forest, water buffalo, oxbow lake or meadow breeders.
Working title: "Lapwing, Stork & Co. in Batzenmoos".
By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
District Administrator Helmut Petz reacts enthusiastically to the concept
According to the concept, visitors are to be guided by traditional signage plus interactive and innovative elements.
Audio accompaniment is planned, there should be hands-on elements, a website, stamp stations, but also the classic information boards and a rest and information stand.
And the cost?
It is expected to cost 114,000 euros, with the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment likely to contribute 50 percent.
It is possible to split the project costs over two years.
For District Administrator Helmut Petz it was clear: Many actors had put their "lifeblood" into this project, which he considered to be "a great thing".
Two district councilors warn of consequences
However, Peter Warlimont (SPD) said that if this adventure trail were to be as successful as the world forest, one would have to prepare for increased parking pressure.
Michael Stanglmaier (Greens) was even clearer: The Batzenmoos is an important and very sensitive local recreation area.
He warned that overexploitation of the area would be "destroyed" by tourism.
This would then achieve the opposite of what was actually intended to be achieved.

It's about protecting the Batzenmoos and not turning it into an amusement park.
Against this background, many questions still need to be clarified: what is meant by a play station?
What should the rest stop be?
Where to park?
And and and.
The result: the project decision was postponed.
Now the administration should further specify the project and then submit it to the committee again.
