The data from the Tax Authority shows that the difference between the sexes exists even when the income levels are the same.

Gender differences also in those entitled to a car from work:

men make up 77% of the car recipients from the employer, according to a review published today (Monday) by the Tax Authority regarding the 2020 tax year. The differences are also seen among employees at the same salary levels.

The review shows that in 2020 about 7% of the employees, 316 thousand people, were defined as receiving an attached car.

The average age of those who received an attached car was 46.4 years, compared to 39.1 among employees who did not receive an attached car.

Men make up close to 77% of all the recipients of the attached vehicle, compared to 50.6% of those who do not receive an attached vehicle.

Segmentation according to salary deciles shows that the absolute majority of owners of attached cars are in the highest salary deciles.

Another finding is that the proportion of car owners is significantly higher among men compared to women, even when comparing men and women who receive a similar salary.

The average gross salary (including imputation of the value of the use of the vehicle) among those who receive an attached car is 29.3 thousand NIS per month, compared to 9.3 thousand NIS per month among employees who do not receive an attached car.

The highest rates of recipients of attached vehicles were found in the sectors of information and communication services (14.7%), and industry (13.5%).

The lowest rates were found in the hospitality and food industries (1.4%), education (1.3%), health, welfare and relief (2.2% in each of the industries).

From these data it appears that an attached car is granted mainly to those with a high salary, that the percentage of those receiving an attached car is higher among men than among women and that the average age of those receiving an attached car is higher than those who do not receive an attached car.

It can be concluded from these data that an attached car is granted mainly to senior employees of the managerial level and without a direct relation to the operational need (multiple trips for work purposes).
