For many Europeans, doing without their own car is quite conceivable in the future.
But other types of mobility are to take its place.
The climate discussion has hit the car hard.
Society has been arguing about the necessity and side effects of mobility for a long time, and not just since demonstrators took to the streets or stuck themselves to car bodies.
In Germany, but also throughout Europe and other parts of the world.
A speed limit on the Autobahn is no longer taboo for many Germans.
But go even further – and do without your own vehicle for reasons of climate protection?
Almost every second European driver can even imagine that by 2030, according to a survey by the global management consultancy BearingPoint.

A large majority of those surveyed also expect that business trips – whether business trips or daily commutes – will be greatly reduced in the future: 87 percent of the survey participants believe that they will drive less frequently to work in the morning and back in the evening.
81 percent said they will be taking significantly fewer business trips compared to 2019.

Climate protection: Mobility services replace private cars
Those surveyed do not expect mobility to decrease in general, but they do expect mobility services to increasingly replace their own cars.
For most people, according to the study, the services and software will be more important than the physical vehicle and its brand, as software platforms will orchestrate the entire journey.
Accordingly, around 81 percent of those surveyed expect that in 2030 there will be a uniform app for using robotic taxis (such as from Amazon), ridesharing offers (such as from Moia) and other forms of mobility.
