Under the title “The mountains, the monastery and science.

Nature and Technology in the Tegernsee Valley” is the last chapter of the Tegernsee Science Days: the book brings together contributions from 20 years.

Tegernsee

– With the presentation of the book “The mountains, the monastery and science.

Nature and Technology in the Tegernsee Valley” recently opened the final chapter of the Tegernsee Science Days.

At the Seehotel zur Post, publisher Marc-Denis Weitze, Mayor Johannes Hagn and publisher Daniel Glasl presented the 128-page work to the fellow campaigners of the scientific lecture series, their followers and supporters.

The initiator of the series, Marc-Denis Weitze, reviewed the history of its origins and thanked everyone he had been able to inspire for the idea of "More science, nature and technology in the valley" before and during the past 20 years.

To the applause of all those present, his special thanks went to Helga Hobmeier, who had organized the series of events from the start on the part of the city.

Another thanks went to Anton Lentner from the Altgelt Foundation, which also supported the book project.

With an appreciative and grateful nod in the direction of fellow combatants such as home and archive keeper Beni Eisenburg, naturalist and science teacher Wolfgang Hiller, historian Roland Götz, geologist Robert Darga and the plant and animal scientists Tanja and Florian Bossert, whose contributions were among the 30 can be found in the book, he proudly said: "We have been able to stimulate more scientific discussions for 20 years.

This is an era to hark back to in the future.”

Because the contributions are not only still up-to-date, but also point the way in the long term.

Weitze admitted that over the 19 years one would have been happy about scripts - even if only on request.

But he was all the more pleased that the majority of the articles have now found their way into a hard cover, with a high-gloss finish and illustrated with numerous photos.

Selecting the contributions was not easy

The selection was difficult for the 55-year-old private lecturer at the Chair for Science Communication at the Technical University (TU) Munich: "Each contribution has something special - from the theory of relativity to tourism research, from the natural history texts to Ringberg Castle and the Max Planck Society .” In particular, those contributions made it clear what a think tank for science and culture the Tegernsee Valley is.

The Tegernsee Science Days have now come to an end with the book: "They have been told, but will continue to be told," said Weitze hopefully and with a view to the book and the cooperation with the Kulturvision association and their "Anders Growing" series.

Since the Tegernsee Science Days have had a permanent place in the autumn valley calendar for so long, Daniel Glasl from Tegernseer Verlag Kleineheimat was delighted to be able to present the fans with an autumnal book cover showing both castles – Tegernsee Castle and Ringberg Castle, both venues of the Lecture series – can be seen.

On the other hand, the printed programs from the years 2002 to 2021 serve to refresh the memory. The book is now provided with an ISBN number and is available for 28 euros in stores and on tegernseebuch.de.
