ETA always returns when the PP envisions electoral success

The harshest controversies between the PSOE and the PP have been recorded for history, big and small.

Terrorism was brandished by the popular, always on the eve of the elections, and coinciding with stages in which the demoscopia and social reality pointed to a substitution of majorities favorable to the conservative party.

Terrorism, as an electoral argument, was used against Felipe González in the very tough three-year period 1993-1996, which ended in his defeat;

it disappeared during the governments of José María Aznar as an ingredient of the political struggle and returned with the governments of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, with Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba as vice-president and head of the Ministry of the Interior.

Now, with Pedro Sánchez, terrorism returns as a thrown weapon.

The pacts with Bildu are the original sin of Pedro Sánchez, as the PP reminds him every day for three years.

The uproar this week at parliamentary headquarters, due to Vox's argumentative brutality against the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has put the focus on the ultra group.

After hours, the PP had to fine-tune the speech that it was going to shell out on Saturday in Madrid, the eve of the concentration of the far-right party in the Plaza de Colón in Madrid.

The essential harmony between the popular leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo and the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, stood out at the event.

There is no need to agitate the streets or stand on banners alongside Vox.

This heartfelt and internalized decision of the PP, no photos with competitors, is entirely compatible in coinciding, sharing and competing for common flags, even if they do not wave them together.

The past is present in all the leaders of the PP in the opposition when they use terrorism and question the democratic firmness, the history and the suffering of the socialists in the fight against ETA, recall leaders from different eras.

It does not help that the leader of the Basque independence organization is Arnaldo Otegi because of his past links to the terrorist organization, recognize socialist interlocutors.

Even so, the PSOE of 2022 demands that the legislative contents of the agreements with EH Bildu and its parliamentary spokesperson, Mertxe Aizpurua, be put on the table.

It is not the what, but the with whom, they recognize in the PP.

Rigor has never been necessary to attribute concessions to terrorists to socialist governments.

The transfer of traffic to Navarra and, therefore, that the Provincial Police take over that competence to replace the Civil Guard, postponed twenty years ago by successive governments, has been the basis for Feijóo.

Bildu has achieved more than previous organizations, with important differential nuances, in these three years than in ETA's full life.

Díaz Ayuso affirms that with such a transfer the Civil Guard will be expelled from Navarra, "a claim by ETA".

Such a transfer is established in the maximum law of Navarra, the Law for the Improvement of Jurisdiction, protected by the Constitution.

The terrorist band despised and attacked the autonomous and regional laws;

for ETA it was either independence or nothing,

The return to brandishing the scarecrow of ETA, as was done with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, evokes the defense of Felipe González.

"José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has done more against ETA than Aznar and Mayor Oreja".

It was May 2011 and the first socialist president of the democracy wrapped up Zapatero, strongly attacked by the failed attempts at a truce with the terrorist group, as had happened with all the presidents until, finally, in October of that year, the terrorist band announced the abandonment of violence forever and without conditions.

It was fulfilled and the nightmare of terror ended.

In 2018, the necessary formality came to communicate its dissolution.

Today's leaders of the PSOE have not been entirely surprised that the PP once again talks about ETA, under the lee of Bildu, having in its ranks comrades who are still active and lived that same strategy.

The current parliamentary spokesman, Patxi López, is one of them.

Among territorial leaders, however, many doubts are raised about the electoral efficacy of attacking "Sánchez and his barons", as Feijóo points out, by ETA.

Also for the unity of Spain, which Sánchez endangers, in addition to "bringing the Spaniards to their knees" before the "bilduetarras".

In the PSOE they want to believe that the concerns of the Spaniards are in other matters, serious, and not easy for the Government.

For the moment, Feijóo continues in search of the most appropriate orientation, without straying from the banners of Ayuso or Vox.
