Yesterday evening the qualifying event for the FIFA Champions League and EA tournament, the eChampions, took place, where the players competed for the right to participate in the prestigious tournament and compete for a prize fund worth $280,000. Israel was represented by eight players:

Yuval Beli, Vic Naim, Nimrod Horvitz, and Iti Cliff

. Players of the

Israeli NOM organization were Ofek Biton, Nasim Issat, Sagi Tesler, and Roy Feldman.

The qualifying stage lasted about two days between November 26-27 and took place in the format of online games in which the players play from their homes. It included the 256 players who are ranked The highest in the FIFA ranking table from all of Europe, which is divided into four regions.

If you were wondering, Israel is cataloged under "Nordics & East", along with countries like Bulgaria, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and more.

In the first rounds, the players compete against players with a similar record to their own, and the players had to win five games out of seven in order to advance to the final knock-out stage of the qualifiers.

Although each of the players is considered a local talent and each of them achieved impressive achievements outside of the tournament, unfortunately, only one Israeli out of the seven qualified for the next stage:

Roy Feldman

.

In the knockout stages, Feldman ended the first game out of two against the Swedish player Zimme with a 1:1 draw, and in the second game he won 0:1.

The second player he faced was the Norwegian Kong.

There, the first match also ended in a 2:2 draw, but already in the second match, Feldman won with a score of 1:2 and secured his place in the eChampions.

At the beginning of the year, Feldman will fly to London for the group stages of the tournament, which will take place between February 18-19, 2023. At this stage, the 64 players who qualified from the qualifiers will compete among themselves according to regions.

The 32 winners of the group stages will then be sent to the knock out stages which will take place on April 22-23.

The grand final will take place in Istanbul, Turkey in early June 2023.

This is not the first time Feldman has played abroad. Last year, he came fourth in the FIFA Champions League 22 tournament and returned home with a prize money of $20,000, also wearing the Israeli NOM uniform.

He has also participated in quite a few official EA tournaments over the past few years, maintaining Israeli representation at these events.
