Mogadishu-SANA
At least four people were killed and others injured during the siege of the famous Villa Rose Hotel in the capital, Mogadishu, which has been occupied since yesterday by terrorists from the Somali youth movement linked to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.
"The terrorists are trapped inside a room in the building, and the security forces are about to end the siege. So far, we have confirmed that four people have been killed, and many people have been injured, including government officials, without specifying their identities," security official Mohamed Daher told AFP today.
In turn, the spokesman for the National Police, Sadiq Dudish, said in a statement: “A group of Al-Shabaab fighters attacked a commercial hotel in the Bondir area yesterday evening, and the security forces are trying to eliminate them.”
He was still hearing the sound of explosions and gunfire in the early morning hours around this hotel, which is usually frequented by parliamentarians and senior officials, and is located a few streets away from the offices of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud.
