From classic to curious: the Auer Krippenweg includes everything - even Saint Batman

With a rousing concert in the church and the opening of the nativity scene path, the Kolping family Au rang in the pre-Christmas period on Sunday in a brilliant way.

- The Au crib trail is a new idea, but the potential number of participants was unpredictable.

“We were hoping for 24 cribs”, Kolping boss Alfred Baur remembered, but he was a bit overwhelmed by the more than 40 cribs.

The citizens of Auer had been asked in advance to place a nativity scene in a window, to light it up and thus bring some joy to their fellow human beings.

Baur emphasized that you can still participate and place cribs on windows facing the street.

In the center of Au there is of course the large crib in the parish church, the life-size version on the market square and small crib exhibitions in the shop windows of empty shops.

But the nativity scene trail also has some curiosities to offer: For example, there is a nativity scene with Donald Duck and Batman, who was hired by the Three Kings as an emergency solution, in the shop window of the former Gabelsberger bakery on Klosterberg.

This resulted in the story "Holy Batman", which many viewers can read with amusement.

In the former Schlecker market, young people have also created a completely new perspective on the festival of the year with the beer can Advent nativity scene.

Walking recommendation

In flyers and on the Kolping website (www.kolping-au.de) you can find the street map of the crib exhibition including recommendations for a large and a small walk.

It is already clear that the idea is an enrichment for Au.

Another benefit for the cultural landscape in the community is the Marktkapelle Au, which sent a quartet for the wind instruments Christmas concert on the first Sunday in Advent.

Magdalena Thumann, Konstantin Hofer, Michael Dreier and Georg Neumeier played a brilliant concert.

The visitors in the Au parish church gave applause lasting several minutes on Sunday after the wind quartet had created a Christmas atmosphere.

At the end there were standing ovations for several minutes for the wind quartet, which musically had reached deep into the box.

The program ranged from upbeat pieces like “Jingle Bell Rock” to very traditional Christmas classics.

In the meantime, Heidi Stich framed the musical program with Christmas poems and stories.

She made people smile and laugh with short stories.
