Ibn Al-Walid Hospital in Al-Waer neighborhood in the city of Homs continues to receive citizens wishing to benefit from the free services provided by the National Cancer Screening Campaign since its inception, to conduct check-ups for breast, cervical and prostate cancers.

The director of the hospital, Dr. Wael Abdel Samad, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that 3 clinics have been allocated within the hospital, “gynaecological, surgical, and urological,” to provide examination services, which include a mammogram, cervical smear, and antibody analysis “BCE” under daily supervision by specialized doctors and residents. And a nursing staff, to provide services to visitors coming from Al-Waer neighborhood and the neighborhoods of the city and the nearby countryside, in addition to a team of volunteers specialized in entering and automating citizen data to be sent daily to the Health Directorate.

Dr. Abdel Samad pointed out the good turnout to benefit from the examinations provided by the hospital daily from Saturday to Thursday, as it has reached 145 mammograms, 43 cervical smears, and 115 PCE tests since the launch of the campaign. early treatment to raise recovery rates and save the physical and psychological burdens and costs of the long and exorbitant journey of treatment.

In turn, the head of the obstetrics department and one of the supervisors of the campaign’s work within the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Abdo, explained that women are received daily within certain standards, depending on the type of examinations and the age of the woman, indicating that a cervical smear is performed for married women of the age of 21 and over, while imaging is performed. The mammogram is for women aged 40 and over, while the “BCE” analysis is performed for men from the age of 50, pointing to the educational and awareness campaign carried out by the nursing staff for the reviewers, which gave positive results through the marked increase in the demand for examinations.

The midwife, Lubna Al-Marei, from the investigation team at the hospital, indicated that on an average daily basis, 20 mammograms, 6 cervical smear samples, and 16 prostate tests are performed, pointing out that full privacy is provided for women, providing them with the necessary information about the smear procedure, and encouraging them to do it, as it is a simple procedure. And whatever to detect any changes or symptoms.

Mrs. Murtaza Sheikh Yunis, 46 years old, from the village of Al-Ghanto, presented a breast examination, calling on women to take advantage of the free examinations offered by the campaign, as it provides them with an opportunity to check on their health.

In turn, Mazen Ayoub, 47 years old, from Rastan, performed the prostate analysis, and pointed out the ease and ease of procedures and examination, and the good treatment of the medical and nursing staff with the auditors.

It is noteworthy that the national campaign for cancer screening began in Homs on the 19th of this month and will continue until the 10th of next January, with the participation of public and private hospitals, which are “Al-Baath University Hospital, Al-Basel in Karm Al-Lawz, Al-Basel in Al-Zahraa, and the martyr Abdul Qadir Shaqfa, Al-Bar and Ibn Al-Walid in Al-Waer, Al-Makhram, Talkalakh, and Farzat Ayoub in Al-Hawash,” in addition to 5 private medical centers that only provide mammogram imaging services, while four mobile medical clinics operate within a specific traffic plan to cover the governorate’s countryside.
