More than two thousand children in 11 villages in As-Suwayda governorate benefited from the “We woven the warmth of our children with our women’s fingers” campaign, which was launched by the Mersat Educational, Developmental and Charitable Foundation on the second of this month.

The chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Anchor Foundation, Rimaz Abdel-Hay, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the campaign launched by the Foundation to distribute winter coats through cooperation with a factory and a number of micro-sewing workshops and based on a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and under the supervision of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor, targeted 11 villages. It provided about 2,150 winter coats for all students of basic education schools, the first cycle, from the first to the sixth grade in the targeted villages.

Abd al-Hay explained that the villages were chosen according to criteria that included the geographically remotest and coldest ones, to contribute to protecting the students of the first cycle schools from the harsh winter cold and to reduce the burden on their families, noting that the Foundation seeks to reach the distribution of 7000 winter coats during the coming period, with the support of charitable community activities, This is based on approved nominal lists that were selected according to well-studied criteria.

The Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Mersat Foundation pointed out that the micro-sewing workshops that are being cooperated with are run by a group of women without breadwinners from the most needy families, and the provision of the necessary raw materials for making coats of high quality, in a way that contributes to supporting and empowering national and local industries.

In turn, the Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Suwayda, Engineer Samer Bahsas, pointed out the importance of such initiatives in easing the burdens on families and securing coats for the students of the targeted schools, especially in the cooler villages in the governorate. sectors, especially education, in addition to encouraging civil and charitable associations to provide more community initiatives.
