The Nancy prosecutor's office announced on Monday November 28 the opening of an investigation entrusted to the IGPN after the death of a man who was shot by a police officer whom he had tried to stab.
The firefighters and the police were called upon overnight from Sunday to Monday to intervene in an attempt to defenestrate a 50-year-old man in the center of Nancy, the public prosecutor of Nancy told AFP. François Pérain, confirming information from L'Est Républicain.
“Suicidal tendencies”
The man, in the process of separating from his partner, had health problems and had already "
expressed suicidal inclinations
", specified the prosecutor.
On the spot, the police discovered him throwing objects, including a fridge, into the street from his apartment.
The police then forced the door of the accommodation in order to enter it, before being pushed back by the man, who tried "
to stab over the protective shield
" used by the forces of the order.
After two taser shots, "
without any effect
", underlines the prosecutor, two police officers each fired once, hitting the man in the chest.
The latter died some time later at the University Hospital of Nancy.

An investigation for "

" has been opened, and entrusted to the delegation of the IGPN of Metz, announced the prosecution.
