Now it's fixed: South of Holzkirchen, a container "village" for 220 refugees is being built

Refugees in Moarholzl again: instead of the air dome that stood until 2017, the district office is now planning a container quarters on the communal area.

Up to 220 refugees housed in containers: In Moarholzl, south of Holzkirchen, the district is building a small refugee “village”.
The market town leases the area, the Free State bears the costs.
But it will be months before the accommodation is usable.

– Buses roll up every week, from which more and more people get off: the constantly increasing allocations of refugees prompt the district to convert a third gymnasium into an emergency shelter.
As reported by the district office, the gymnasium at the Tegernsee high school is being prepared for the accommodation of up to 200 refugees - meanwhile the third district gymnasium that has to serve as emergency accommodation.
In order not to have to misuse more gyms, the district has been pushing the government of Upper Bavaria for months to get funding commitments for two container locations in Holzkirchen and Hausham.
And now, finally, after several months of negotiations, also at the political level, the promise came at least for container accommodation in Holzkirchen.
"Fortunately, at least the assumption of costs for a container system at Moarhoelzl was finally approved," said district office spokeswoman Sophie Stadler on Monday (November 28).
There is still no commitment for a second facility in Hausham, which will be a little smaller with 100 places.
In Moarholzl, the district is now getting into the detailed planning.
On the paved area, where there was already an air dome for refugees (320 places) from 2015 to 2017, a central accommodation made of containers is to be built.
"The draft of the lease agreement is in place," says Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) on request;
the market town had offered the site in preliminary talks with the district office.
"We stand by our word," says Schmid.

According to the first plans, the two-storey container complex will contain residential units of different sizes as well as kitchen and shower areas as well as common rooms.
The complex is arranged around a large inner courtyard.
The old supply lines for the air dome can be used again.
Visually, the ensemble should have a similar effect to the interim accommodation of the Holzkirchner middle school on Baumgartenstraße, which opened in September.

For price orientation: The community is paying over seven million euros for the three-year interim quarter of the middle school.
It is not yet clear what costs will be incurred in the Moarholzl.
In general, the planning is only just beginning, says Sophie Stadler, spokeswoman for the district office.
Tendering and awarding must take place across Europe.
A quick relief of the accommodation need is not in sight: "It will be a few months before this container facility can be occupied."
According to Schmid, it remains to be clarified whether the subsoil – as in the case of the interim school – even needs to be replaced and stabilized with strip foundations.
Since the project is located outside, a longer lead time can also be assumed in terms of building planning law - unlike the air dome, which was easier to realize as a "flying" structure at the time.
The mayor assumes that the refugee containers in Moarholzl will be in operation for “a few years”.
The municipality hopes that it will be granted a quota of places in the container quarters, as a kind of “pre-emption right”, in order to accommodate refugees who have previously lived in private accommodation in Holzkirchner.
"That was agreed verbally," says Schmid.
However, Stadler makes it clear that refugees of all origins are housed in the containers – not just Ukrainians.
According to Schmid, the transport connection of the small container settlement with up to 220 people will secure the building application.
The community would like a bicycle parking facility and some parking spaces.
It is also conceivable to have the newly introduced “Hoki” on-demand bus stop at the containers.

The district has to accommodate up to 100 refugees every week
According to the district office, more than 500 people who fled Ukraine and 200 refugees from other countries have been assigned to the district since the beginning of autumn.
"Currently, the weekly assignments amount to 50 to 100 people," says Stadler.
50 refugees arrived on November 24th, another 100 people are expected on December 1st.
The district can hardly cope with this amount, private quarters are no longer available.
The emergency accommodation in the high school gym in Miesbach is regularly full with around 200 people, as is the vocational school gym in Miesbach.
So now it hits the next hall in Tegernsee.
"The exact start-up time depends on the conversion work and the access situation," says spokeswoman Sophie Stadler.
All district gyms were checked and prioritized for ventilation, size and sanitary facilities.
The choice fell on the Tegernseer Halle.
"It's absurd to accommodate refugees in gyms," says District Administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU).
The victims are students and athletes who, after the long Corona break, are again unable to go into the halls.
In addition, gymnasiums are “simply not suitable” for accommodation.
He has already had many discussions with various politicians in order to get some pressure from the gyms with two larger container accommodations in Holzkirchen and Hausham.
"It's very annoying that progress is so slow," says Löwis.
A small ray of hope: At least for the containers in Moarholzl Holzkirchen, a financing commitment has now arrived.
Furthermore, the district office is looking for vacant halls or larger buildings for refugee accommodation that are available for at least three years.
