Opinion The auditor's report on the harm to the soldiers boils the blood and requires a deep house check | Israel Hayom

This is no longer a one-off incident of the alleged rape of a guard soldier by a security prisoner, but a deep-rooted phenomenon • The soldiers are an object, a toy, that is there to serve the desires of men, who are usually many times stronger than them

The state auditor's reports are often a fallen tree in the forest. As important as they are, no one hears, no one sees, and it is labeled as another event that did not happen. Sometimes this happens because the auditors succeed in artfully sweeping away the criticism against them, sometimes because The reviewer's excess, and sometimes because the subject itself fails to scratch the threshold of public interest.

It is forbidden for the report that was published yesterday regarding "the protection of the mandatory employees in the units of the Ministry of Internal Security" to be added to the dusty archive of these reports.

The data that emerges from it are too difficult and disturbing to be ignored.

They include sexual harassment on an alarming scale: 40% of the female soldiers who served in the prison service were harassed, and 25% of the female soldiers who served in the police and border guards.

There is no nice way to say this, and there is no reason either: this is no longer a one-off incident of the alleged rape of a female guard by a security prisoner, but a deep-rooted phenomenon that exists not only on the part of the prisoners but also on the part of permanent servants and commanders.

The main point - female soldiers are an object, a toy, that is there not to serve the country but to serve the enemies of men, who are usually many times stronger than them.

The examples and citations given in the auditor's report are hair-raising and blood-curdling. They require a thorough, deep inspection, which, despite the promises, has not yet been carried out. The IDF and the police have indeed reached conclusions regarding the continued service of female soldiers in the police units, and there was also an inspection committee that found that most of the female soldiers were satisfied overall All from their service, but if the data provided by the auditor is to be believed - and there is no reason not to - the problem needs to be dealt with in a much more thorough manner than has been done so far.

The responsibility for this rests with the Chief of Staff, the Chief of Staff and the Shevast Police Commissioner. The Chief of Staff, because female soldiers are recruited by law into the IDF and he is the one who assigns them to other bodies, and hence he has a supreme responsibility to keep his soldiers safe and return them home healthy and safe, physically and mentally The Commissioner and the Sheriff's Commissioner, because these acts took place under their direct responsibility, by subordinates (or prisoners) who were subordinate to them, and in such scopes it is no longer a one-off matter but a culture - or rather a subculture - that pervades the bodies under their command.

Following the attack in which Sergeant Noa Lazar was killed at the Shuafat checkpoint, it was decided to remove the IDF soldiers from the scene. This was a binding command decision: the army is also responsible for the safety and security of its soldiers. Now it must take similar measures to ensure the safety of its soldiers (and especially its women soldiers) who serve in the units of Ministry of Internal Security.

And a final word to the State Comptroller: the report is important, and one should hope that it will lead to change, but one must wonder where you have been until now. Why has the investigation on your behalf only been opened now, while other ills of such scope are taking place in the public service without you being able to direct a binding spotlight on them?
