The police launched an operation today to search 5 hotels in the Tsim Sha Tsui area and arrested 17 women, aged between 20 and 40, including a local woman and a Chinese woman holding a mainland passport. They were charged with manipulating others for prostitution. The key members of the group, the investigation found that they would use the hotel room as a command center to contact guests and arrange rooms; in addition, 2 Russian women, 2 Japanese women and 11 Chinese women holding mainland passports were suspected of "violating the conditions of stay" ".
They all come to Hong Kong on tourist visas and will stay in Hong Kong for one to two weeks.
There is a huge gap in the "flesh gold" among the women. Mainland women charge about 1,000 to 2,000 yuan, while Japanese and Russian women charge 5,000 to 6,000 yuan.
During the operation, police seized $220,000 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime, mobile phones used by syndicate members to contact clients, and items used in prostitution activities.
All those arrested will be held overnight for questioning.
The police believe that the prostitution syndicate is controlled by the underworld. The investigation is still ongoing, and it is not ruled out that someone will be arrested again.
He pointed out that this time the criminal group used hotel rooms and encrypted social software in an attempt to evade police investigation, but the police have the ability and confidence to arrest those involved and will spare no effort to crack down on organized prostitution.
According to the "Crimes Ordinance" Chapter 200 of the laws of Hong Kong, controlling the prostitution of others is a serious crime, and can be sentenced to a maximum of 14 years in prison.
