Landsberg – It's going well with the Riverkings.

With victories against Höchstadt and Memmingen, the premier league team from Lech has moved up one place in the table – to 10th place. Striking: Only one team, namely bottom club Klostersee, has a goal difference of -55 worse than HC Landsberg (-41).

The Bureau responded by signing defender Lukas Popela.

In the first game of the weekend, the HCL traveled to the third-placed Höchstadt Alligators.

Newcomer Lukas Popela was also there (see article opposite).

Landsberg limited himself to the defensive in the first few minutes and acted rather passively.

Höchstadt, initially a little better in the game, always had good shots, which were intercepted either by goalkeeper Michael Güßbacher or by a defender.

When captain Tobias Wedl had to sit in the penalty box in the 14th minute, the hosts used a powerful long-range shot by Jakob Fardoe to make it 1-0.

After that, the HCL got into the game better and created good chances through Jason Lavallee, Florian Stauder and Frantisek Wagner, but without scoring.

In the second third, the Riverkings started with a lot of momentum and used a majority situation right at the beginning through Lavallee to make it 1:1.

After a good pass from Adriano Carciola, he shot into the cross corner for Höchstadt's goalkeeper Dirksen.

Landsberg stayed on the trigger.

However, a counterattack was caught in the middle of the urge phase, which David Seidl completed coldly to lead 2-1.

When Tim Zimmermann increased to 3:1 in the 31st minute at the end of a penalty time, the game seemed to tip over.

However, the Riverkings caught themselves again and closed in the 35th minute with a counterattack via Florian Stauder and Frantisek Wagner: 2:3.

In the closing period, the Riverkings picked up where they left off.

With a lot of pressure they forced penalties on the opponent and so Mika Reuter was able to equalize in the 45th minute to make it 3:3.

When a short time later Jari Neugebauer had to sit in the penalty box for five minutes because of an incorrect body attack, the HCL seemed to have the game finally under control.

However, the Riverkings, outnumbered, frittered away the puck and made it 4:3.

Walker Sommer equalized in the 50th and Jason Lavallee made it 5:4 with a majority.

Landsberg seemed on the road to victory.

Far from it: Höchstadt threw everything forward in the last few minutes, failed several times at the strong HCL keeper Güßbacher before Neugebauer equalized 5:5.

In overtime it was Walker Sommer who made the Riverkings cheer:

Exciting derby

It was no less exciting on Sunday in the home game against ECDC Memmingen.

In front of 1,230 spectators, the guests had more of the game in the first third and put a lot of pressure on.

Leon Kittel celebrated for the first time after just 52 seconds: he scored to give Memmingen a 1-0 lead.

However, it was less than three minutes before Manuel Malzer served Walker Sommer with a long pass, who equalized with a bang into the far post to make it 1-1.

Memmingen continued to put a lot of pressure on the Landsberger goal, but Andreas Magg and his defense were able to prevent further goals.

In the eighth minute, the HCL ran a relief counterattack via Adrianlo Carciola and Florian Staude, which Frantisek Wagner used in an exemplary manner to take the lead 2:1.

Landsberg then stabilized and took the lead through the first third.

Less than three minutes after the tea break, the HCL fans were allowed to celebrate again.

Sven Gäbelein used a lack of attention in the Memmingen defense and scored untenable to 3:1.

The Riverkings were the slightly better team in the second third with a lot of effort towards goal, but they weakened themselves unnecessarily with a few penalties - and so Petr Pohl scored the 3:2 connection shortly before the break.

In the final third, Memmingen pushed for an equaliser.

But it was HCL who scored the first goal: Mika Reuter scored the 4:2 in the 49th minute.

When Peter Donat scored the 4:3 six minutes before the end, things got dramatic.

Memmingen threw everything forward and Landsberg defended passionately - and was rewarded: Seconds before the final siren, Walker Sommer scored to make it 5:3.
