Today, the Russian Federal Security Service announced that it had thwarted a series of terrorist attacks that three Ukrainians were planning to carry out in a market in the city of Melitopol in the Zaporozhye region.
Sputnik quoted the agency as saying in a statement today: Preparations for a series of terrorist attacks were thwarted in places crowded with citizens in Zaporozhye district, and three Ukrainian citizens were arrested in Melitopol, on their way to a place where an explosive device was planted in one of the city's markets.
The statement added: Two of the detainees had previously been convicted of serious crimes on the territory of Ukraine, and admitted that they had acted on instructions from the Ukrainian intelligence service with the aim of terrorizing the civilian population of Zaporozhye Oblast.
The Russian Federal Security Service announced last Thursday that it had thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to blow up the gas pipeline extending to Turkey.
