Would you like to turn your back on the dreary and cold weather in Germany for a few sunny days?

It is now nice and warm in many travel destinations.

It's winter and you're on vacation, but don't feel like the cloudy, German winter weather?

If autumn is still in your bones and winter can't be over soon enough, then you might want to treat yourself to a warm, summery break in between.

And what would be better suited than a summer holiday in winter?

Not everywhere in the world is it as cold and uncomfortable in November, December and January as it is in Germany.

There are many countries in the southern hemisphere where you can find sunny temperatures even now.

Maybe one of our travel tips is something for you?

Australia: Where summer and winter are reversed

When you think of summer holidays in winter, Australia quickly springs to mind.

The continent in the southern hemisphere experiences the seasons more or less the other way around than we do in Germany.

Autumn is here from March to May, winter from June to August, spring from September to November and summer from December to February.

So if you fancy travel destinations like Sydney or Melbourne, you're in good hands in Australia.

Incidentally, it is always warm on the north side of the country, because here there is only a distinction between the dry season and the rainy season with humid heat.

If you are after a holiday on the Gold Coast, then you definitely have warm weather of at least 30 degrees Celsius.

But be careful: Don't forget good sun protection!

New Zealand: Swimming or enjoying nature in summery weather

From Australia it is almost only a stone's throw to New Zealand.

Here, too, the seasons run in opposite directions and September to February is spring and summer in this country, although not quite as hot as in the Australian north.

In summer, the average temperature in New Zealand is around 23 degrees Celsius, so it is pleasant for swimming and beach holidays, but also for hiking and exploring.

You might even discover a Tasmanian devil on a trip into the fascinating nature.

Hawaii: flower chains and beaches, but also mountains and deserts

The ultimate destination for palm trees and flower chains: Hawaii.

Winter and summer aren't skewed here, but that doesn't matter either because it's always warm in Hawaii and the surrounding islands of the Hawaiian archipelago in the central Pacific.

There is kau, summer, which lasts from May to October, and hooilo, winter, which lasts from November to April.

Even in the so-called winter, the average temperature is just under 26 degrees Celsius, which makes Hawaii an ideal travel destination in the German winter.

Due to the different climate zones, there is also a lot to see on the islands.

The flora and fauna is very varied and Hawaii has both volcanic mountains, deserts, palm beaches and rainforests as well as cool alpine regions to offer.

You can't get more summer vacation in winter: Hawaii's beaches invite you to relax.

Maldives: A paradise for divers and snorkellers

If you feel like diving or snorkeling during your winter summer vacation, you might consider the Maldives as a travel destination.

Here the weather is tropically humid and temperatures range between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius all year round.

The water here is also warmer than the North Sea and you can see many colorful fish in the 27 to 29 degrees warm and above all clear water with diving goggles and snorkel.

In addition, the monsoon season in the Maldives, which lasts from May to October, should be over during the German winter.

Cape Verde Islands: The wind blows here - the place-to-be for water sports enthusiasts

If you prefer more action than diving and fancy surfing or kiting, then the insider tip of Cape Verde might be something for you.

The Cape, also known as Cabo Verde, is a state on a volcanic archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Africa.

The largest island with the capital Praia is called Santiago and there are numerous beaches throughout the archipelago.

The weather is dry and is around 31 degrees in summer (June to October) and around 22 degrees Celsius in winter (January to April).

Depending on the season, the water is between 20 and 25 degrees warm.

Hurricane season lasts from August to November, May to November gets a lot of rain, but after that is the ideal time for European vacationers.

In December and January you can still sunbathe on the beach on the Caribbean island or explore nature, which is very diverse with rainforests, mountains and bays lined with reefs.

A special tip for fans of diving and snorkeling is the city of Negril on the west coast of the country.

There are similarly beautiful beaches and colorful culture in Cuba, another island state in the Caribbean.

The weather here is similar to Jamaica, offering average temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius all year round.

In the winter months, the dry season from November to April, it can get a little colder, but never below 20 degrees.

Cuba is known for hurricanes, which tend to occur more frequently between August and October.

In December you can relax on the beach in the colorful country or explore the capital Havana with its exciting architecture from the Spanish colonial era in the 16th century and the colorful houses, cars and paintings.

Thailand: In a foreign country - temples, palaces and palm beaches

If you want to experience less beach vacation and more foreign culture, you can also look around on the other side of the globe and travel to Thailand.

The Southeast Asian country also has a coast on the Gulf of Thailand and with the winter temperatures from November to February, which are 21 to 30 degrees, you can have a wonderful bathing holiday on the tropical beaches.

However, the country is worth visiting for its rich culture, luxurious royal palaces, ancient ruins and fascinating temples with Buddha images.

In stark contrast is the capital, Bangkok, which combines ultramodern buildings and a newfangled downtown area with quiet suburbs.

The most famous temples to visit are Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Kaeo.
