The Geissens could be seen before their own TV series on "Goodbye Germany".

But after a short time it was over for Robert and Carmen.

Now the entrepreneur reveals why they left the show.

Monaco – If you think of Die Geissens, a few images will certainly spring to mind: luxury cars, jet set lifestyle, magnificent houses and of course lots of cheeky sayings.

For more than a decade, Robert (58) and Carmen Geiss (57) have been an integral part of the German celebrity world and, in addition to their already considerable fortune, have also established themselves as true TV icons.

It doesn't matter whether it's their own format "The Geissens - A Terribly Glamorous Family" or the offshoot for the offspring Davina (19) and Shania (18) - "Davina & Shania - We Love Monaco" - the television summary of the four Monaco-choices can be seen to let.

Practice early: The Geissens started their TV career on "Goodbye Germany"

It's hard to believe that it's been so long: On January 3, 2011, "Die Geissens" premiered on RTLZWEI and took viewers into a world that many can only dream of for the rest of their lives.

Always accompanied by camera teams, Robert and his loved ones illuminate all facets of their noble everyday life in the golden metropolis of Monaco on the Côte d'Azur and show with each new episode what luxurious everyday joys a well-stocked wallet can conjure up.

This mixture of glamorous and approachable seems to be well received – the ratings have never been better and after 14 seasons there is still no end in sight.

Those were the days: From 2009 to 2010, the Geissens around Robert and Carmen Geiss could be seen on "Goodbye Germany".

But they left the show – and became self-employed in 2011 with “The Geissens – A Terribly Glamorous Family”.

However, particularly loyal fans are likely to know the luxurious family from a completely different iconic format.

Because before Robert and Carmen did things together with RTLZWEI, they presented their swanky everyday life in the VOX hit "Goodbye Germany" from 2009 to 2010.

This successful, albeit short-lived combination might come as a surprise - after all, most of the courageous emigrants who document their departure into the unknown in the audience's favorite certainly cannot boast such incredible wealth as "Die Geissens" star Robert Geiss.

"Fuels envy": Robert Geiss unpacks about "Goodbye Germany" exit

Though they had plenty of adventures on the popular emigrant show, their time there didn't last long.

As Robert Geiss recently revealed in an interview for the "OMR Podcast", the clear contrast between his wealth and those who have to fight hard for their lives in their new home bothered him a lot.

Robert's decision to continue telling the family story in his own show and to leave "Goodbye Germany" to those who have to face much more serious challenges abroad is absolutely commendable.

In the end, the "Goodbye Germany" exit was more of a loss for the broadcaster than for Robert's wallet.

And the faithful followers of the "terribly glamorous family" continue to get the full boom of luxury: Geissens fans were recently certain that Davina Geiss had cosmetic surgery.
