,

,

,

Homicidios

…), has been stopped much more on the street for six months than before: “ Can I take a picture with you?”, “We know you're innocent”, passers-by spontaneously say as they approach to take a

with their mobile or ask for an autograph.

At 62 years old, and when he had already put aside his facet as an interpreter and refocused his professional career on

coaching

in communication, his face returned to occupy pages in newspapers and television screens after being accused of murdering, by poisoning, his partner's aunt, while he lived with them in their house in Rivas Vaciamadrid (Madrid), with the alleged aim of to seize his inheritance.

“It is very rare, I am famous again, but it seems that the reason does not matter: “Murder accomplished”, he ironizes what he puts on his mugshot.

He is convinced that he and his wife, Arancha Palomino, have been victims of a "prospective investigation" by the homicide group of the Madrid Civil Guard command, in which the affairs of the Corazón press seem to prevail (" family quarrels or problems with ex-partners or neighbors") than to the main issue of this case: "Clarify how, who, where, and when the crime of which we are accused was committed."

He assures that he has nothing against the armed institute, since his father was a captain of the Civil Guard, but he maintains that "this investigation is a botch."

Lorenzo feels that he has been starring in "the paper" of his life for six months:

No trace of what killed Luis Lorenzo's aunt: the "incriminating" powders were salt, sugar and bicarbonate

Isabel Suárez Arias, an 85-year-old Asturian and aunt of Arancha Palomino, died at the couple's home in Madrid on June 28, 2021, according to the doctor who treated her at the time, of "natural death", "cerebrovascular accident".

An autopsy requested

in extemis

by her relatives from Asturias, and which forced her burial to be delayed one day, states that her death is of "homicidal etiology" due to possible "acute poisoning with heavy metals", specifically cadmium and manganese.

However, subsequent studies provided by second and third forensics from the National Institute of Toxicology, warned in court that this striking alteration in the values of these metals can be produced by a natural organic postmortem process and not by poisoning.

On the other hand, subsequent Criminalistics reports from the Civil Guard concluded that the suspicious powders collected at the couple's house by the investigators were "salt, sugar and bicarbonate" and they did not find cadmium, they only found manganese in some tin cans and painting that was on the terrace.

On the morning of May 25, almost a year after the death of aunt Isabel, a dozen agents of the Civil Guard of Madrid entered the apartment of Rivas de Lorenzo y Palomino with a search warrant and literally put paws up their lives and their home, after six hours collecting evidence or presumed evidence of the crime.

They were then taken into custody.

"Although they did not consider it necessary for us to leave the urbanization in handcuffs, everyone saw us with all that commotion of cars and agents," recalls Lorenzo, when they were still unaware of what was coming their way.

"I had never been arrested before, I had the feeling that this could not be happening," he says, recalling that the only thing that worried him at that moment was that the couple's two children, aged 11 and six, would be left in charge. his brother's.

“They entered with a judicial secretary and a search warrant, but they did not explain the reason because it was 'indictment secret', they told us that we would find out in court, they began to take the batteries from the whole house, even from the toys of the two children”, he remembers.

"At first I thought that they still believed that Isabel could have swallowed a battery, then they took all kinds of cans from the bathroom, from the terrace... and I began to think that they might believe that she died of poisoning," he says, while assuring that He always thought that that entry had to do with Isabel because the Arancha family had previously sued them for hereditary issues, had filed a complaint "for the disappearance" of Isabel when she was with them in Madrid —which was the one that gave rise to the this investigation-,

Lorenzo and Palomino were taken to the Rivas and Tres Cantos command posts, respectively.

There they began to become aware of their situation: “The great host is when they tell you that you are being investigated for murder, and that harsh detention protocol: they take away all your belongings, they strip you naked, they take your fingerprints, they photograph you, you they take a DNA sample and leave you in a dungeon with a mat.”

The actor recalls that in those 48 hours, “your whole life goes through your head, you debate between anxiety ('what will come next, because you only know what you are being accused of but not why') and serenity (' This has to be clarified because I haven't done anything')”.

Luis Lorenzo spent two days doing meditation and exercises in a space of two square meters.

Arancha Palomino, had to be admitted after trying to take her life.

Later, when a leak made all of Spain know before them and their own lawyers that they were accused of having poisoned Aunt Isabel to keep her inheritance, and after arriving handcuffed at court number 9 in Arganda that is investigating the case, they were left on provisional release, without passports and with the obligation to appear in court every 15 days, as they remain until today.

"Suddenly, we became the number one murderers in this country, from the beginning we have been presumed guilty, nothing would have been even similar if I had not become a familiar face," says Lorenzo.

“We don't have access to our money, nor to any of our devices, they all took it, we live on borrowed money, thanks to the few friends we have left, 90% have moved away from us, my

company has gone to hell : Who is going to hire me? We have the media at our doorstep..., in short, our life is a disaster," says Lorenzo, from whom the Civil Guard seized 140,000 euros in cash that he kept in his House.

"That money is mine, I withdrew it from the banks when I did not trust the financial situation," he says.

The economic investigation into the death of Isabel Suárez Arias has verified that, during the three months that the elderly woman was in Madrid before she died, movements amounting to 17,000 euros occurred in her account, which her niece Arancha attributes to the expenses of the caregiver (1,800 euros per month) who had a 24-hour contract, which is also being investigated.

Arantxa and Luis Lorenzo have lived without a known job since 2015 and 2016, respectively.

"The worst in these situations are the children," says Lorenzo.

His lawyer, Francisco Pérez Platas, has filed a complaint against the investigation for "unjustified proceedings" and "without judicial control" that affect the children of the accused.

Specifically, the eldest of the children, the son of Arancha and a previous partner, was handed over to his parent, despite having been convicted of gender-based violence and mistreatment and having a restraining order.

The Civil Guard asserted a "police proceeding" not authorized by the judge, took the minor to Avilés and took his statement there.

The minor is in treatment after spending 21 days with a father with whom he had no contact.

And the investigation has inexplicably canceled that diligence.
