The negotiations on the growing coalition reveal the differences between the various parties in the right-wing bloc.
"Israel Hayom" has learned that there is an internal conflict in the Torah Judaism faction regarding the distribution of roles.
According to the original plan, the Likud designated the chairmanship of the Interior and Environmental Protection Committee for Torah Judaism.
However, the party sought to expand the committee's powers after the Otzma Yehudit faction received the chairmanship of the Internal Security Committee, which was split from the Interior Committee in the last Knesset.
Among the proposals put forward as part of the negotiations was the possibility of expanding the powers of the Interior Committee so that it concentrates on the issue of housing. However, last night, the chairman of Torah Judaism, MK Yitzhak Goldknopf, who is designated for the housing and construction portfolio, surprisingly expressed his opposition to the expansion of powers of the committee. This, even though the committee is intended for a member of his faction MK Yaakov Asher.

This is not the only objection surrounding the Interior Committee.
The chairman of Shas MK Aryeh Deri demanded the chairmanship of the committee for his party, this against the background of the desire for parliamentary control over the issues of the Ministry of the Interior where he is expected to return to serve as minister.
On top of that, Torah Judaism wants to add powers to the committee on religious issues such as kosher and conversion.
These issues were under the authority of the committee in the past but were transferred in the last Knesset to the Committee for Religious Services.
Religious Zionism and Shas claim these powers for themselves and oppose the MK's committee holding them.
