The College of Health Sciences at Al-Baath University held the first scientific day for laboratory sciences, entitled “Your First Laboratory Steps”, in the Seminar Hall of the College of Pharmacy.

The scientific day included 7 scientific lectures, including receiving the patient and dealing with samples, introducing the devices used in the laboratory, conducting CBC analysis and errors committed, dealing with and adjusting the spectro device, analysis using the (AND) method, cultivating samples and simulating laboratory results.

The Vice President of Al-Baath University for Administrative Affairs and Students, Dr. Elias Boutros, confirmed that the College of Health Sciences is one of the unique colleges of its kind in Syria that contributes to graduating qualified youth with broad skills, especially in scientific fields, pointing out that the university pays care and attention to the establishment of these scientific activities that help In consolidating educational ideas, especially since laboratory sciences is one of the most important disciplines in the college because it is a basic pillar for medical services and health facilities.

Boutros pointed out the need to provide a distinguished educational and research service in this field, and to provide the local community with specialized and scientifically qualified cadres in medical laboratories, and to prepare graduates with high scientific and professional qualifications who are able to supplement the medical sector and contribute to the development and service of society.

In turn, the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Hazem Dahman, pointed out the importance of the specialized scientific day in the field of laboratory sciences, because of the support and development it represents for the College of Health Sciences, and the need to keep pace with the continuous and rapid development of the use of medical analyzes in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, and because knowledge, scientific background and experience in molecular analysis methods have become Something essential, as the exchange of scientific experiences that will be witnessed in the scientific day will contribute to identifying everything new in this field, pointing to the need to continue holding such events to shed light on the Laboratory Sciences Department and its importance in providing the labor market with scientifically qualified medical cadres.

And the head of the Department of Laboratory Sciences in the college, Dr. Haitham Saad El-Din, stated that this scientific day is the first to be held in the College of Health Sciences with the aim of introducing the devices and technologies used in the laboratories, which play a vital and important role in the medical system and serving the patient and treating him through a procedure

Experiments and analyzes on samples according to studied scientific bases, to detect and treat diseases and produce some drugs and medicines for them, stressing that the college seeks to graduate qualified cadres in practice and theory capable of serving science and human life.

A number of the participating students pointed out the necessity of this purposeful scientific day in laboratory sciences, given that the analyzes and laboratories provide important and essential information, which contribute to the early detection of diseases, and enable doctors to diagnose and treat them, as well as monitor the patient's condition.
