The barrier on Weichser Straße near the federal highway 2 between Murnau and Ohlstadt is repeatedly opened without permission.

And not only that.

Ohlstadt

– It wasn't a designated item on the agenda, but the topic brought the level of discussion back to life at the end of the municipal council meeting in Ohlstadt: the barrier on Weichser Straße.

In 2015, this was installed directly in front of the wooden bridge over the Loisach at the northern end of Weichser Straße, not far from federal highway 2.

Barrier on federal road damaged: community now wants to control more

To prevent unauthorized drivers from using the connection to Ohlstadt intended for agricultural purposes as a shortcut.

Keys for opening and closing were only issued to the authorized persons.

Apparently, this caused irritation among a certain group of people.

Because the barrier is repeatedly exposed to willful damage.

So far, there have been no reports from the municipality;

but that should change now.

"Damage to property is not a minor offence," said Mayor Christian Scheuerer (independent) at the meeting and announced police checks for the future.

“It is definitely a nuisance”

Some acts seem like pranks from rascals.

Those that, with the exception of the person who caused them, no one really finds funny.

The lock has already been deactivated several times with superglue or pinched open with pliers.

Once the barrier was even bent.

Scheuerer wasn't sure whether it was malicious or a mistake.

However, the incident was not reported.

"It's definitely a nuisance," emphasized the mayor.

The loophole was also used without permission during numerous return trips by farmers who managed the surrounding properties for mowing purposes.

The barrier remained open for a long period of time and through traffic immediately increased.

Scheuerer once again pointed out that the passage – even when the barrier is open – “only for agricultural traffic and residents” is permitted.

In the meantime, the barrier has been closed again and the associated lock has been reattached.
