Participants in the scientific symposium on “von Willebrand’s disease” recommended the need for a national program to investigate and diagnose the disease through partnership between the Ministry of Health, the Syrian Society for Hemophilia, and the concerned medical and civil institutions.

Director of Homs Health Directorate, Dr. Musallam Al-Atassi, pointed out during the symposium organized by the Syrian Association for Hemophilia Patients in cooperation with the Branch of the Medical Syndicate, the Health Directorate in Homs, and the International Federation of Hemophilia in Homs Grand Hotel, with the participation of a group of doctors, to the great and participatory efforts made by the Ministry through its directorates and the mobilization of all its medical and health cadres in Keeping abreast of developments in the world of health and investigating diseases through networking with a number of medical associations and supporting educational programs to raise awareness in society.

In turn, the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa of the World Federation of Hemophilia, Dr. Rana Al-Saifi, appreciated in a video speech the efforts of all governmental and private agencies and the Syrian Society for Hemophilia Patients in its awareness campaign to serve as an important model for detecting von Willebrand disease and benefiting from the results of the campaign, noting the continued support of the World Federation of Hemophilia To Syria through the Syrian Society for Hemophilia Patients with everything necessary.

For his part, Azzam al-Najjar, head of the Doctors' Syndicate branch in Homs, pointed out that the syndicate's priorities are promoting health awareness, noting the fruitful partnership with medical associations concerned with health and medical awareness.

The head of the Syrian Association for Hemophilia, Dr. Tahani Ali, indicated that the aim of the symposium is to reach patients to provide all forms of health and medical care, given that von Willebrand disease is one of the most common hemorrhagic diseases and is present in varying degrees.

During a statement to SANA reporter, Dr. Ali indicated that the symposium is the second station launched by the association in Damascus last August over a period of six weeks, with the aim of reaching patients through medical diagnosis, as the symptoms of the disease are similar to any other hemorrhagic disease, including bruising, nosebleeds, and menorrhagia, as they were directed to family planning clinics. Concerned with reproductive health and women's health.

While Dr. Dima Adwan spoke about the management of hemophilia “von Willebrand” during pregnancy and childbirth, and clinical cases were presented by the scientific team of the Syrian Society for Hemophilia.

In her turn, the head of the Communicable and Chronic Diseases Division at the Homs Health Directorate, Dr. Ghadir Salibi, pointed out the role of the Ministry of Health in caring for hemophilia patients and the need to develop a joint plan to detect the disease.

Dr. Khawla Al-Qobba presented her lecture on the approach to hemophilia in children, while Dr. Suzan Halima spoke about menstruation, “diagnosis and treatment challenges.” The seminar concluded with a lecture by Dr. Farid Al-Sayed Suleiman, coordinator of the Syrian Family Planning Association in Homs, on the role of the Family Planning Association in stimulating and detecting “von Willebrand” disease. ".

It is noteworthy that the Syrian Society for Hemophilia was established in 2006 and one of its goals is to contribute to the establishment of a national registry for patients, provide them with medical and health care, educate and raise awareness, and reduce the occurrence of disabilities resulting from complications of hemophilia and hemorrhagic diseases.
