Miesbach – “Welcome, welcome to the 1000 lights.

We'll light up the night.” That's what Miesbach echoed again and again on Saturday.

The 1000 lights in Miesbach again lived up to its reputation as a magnet for visitors on Saturday (November 26): The city, especially the market square, was full of guests.

These visitors were visibly impressed by the stilt walkers, who strolled through Miesbach high above them, also beautifully illuminated with fairy lights on the robe, illuminated fabric wings and LED lanterns.

For many, they were a popular photo motif and contributed just as much to the beautiful atmosphere of the 100 lights as the lighting, which was deliberately reduced this year.

The many stands that provided culinary variety with tried and tested or interesting creations were also an attraction.

The shops were also open later.

The ice carver Christian Staber and his cool, shiny works of art were also a magnet.

Crowds of people formed around the depictions of a fish in the waves, an eagle and a church.

They were of course staged in the best light by the artist.

Pre-Christmas atmosphere for every taste

True to the motto of the event, this naturally also applied to the city centre.

Particularly nice to see, for example, at the Michaels and fairy tale fountains as well as on the Lebzelterberg and of course on the entire market square, where the majority of the stands and visitors were found.

Those who wanted it quieter turned to the outskirts, such as Heimbucherstrasse and Marktwinkl or Fraunhoferstrasse.

They weren't really tied to the hustle and bustle of the marketplace, but offered relaxed islands.

There was also an attraction for the young visitors, an old children's carousel, which was well frequented by the youngsters and gave rise to feelings of yesteryear.

Of course, the children were also enthusiastic about Santa Claus, who honored the event and brought chocolate Santa Clauses with him.

Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller insisted on assisting the saint in distributing the gifts.

The Advent season was not only emphasized by St. Nicholas at the 1000 lights, but also by the churches of the city, which invited visitors to pause and meditate with soft lighting.

The Protestant church community also offered a hands-on offer at the market square - candle making.

The culinary offerings should have satisfied all visitors.

They ranged from classic bratwurst and grilled meat rolls to hot dogs, burgers, potato soups and Schupfnudeln, to Dürüm and bubble waffles.

Advent classics such as mulled wine variants and punch were of course a must, but there were also creative things such as "oriental orange juice with a shot" at the foot of the Lebzelterberg or the mulled buck near the Waldeckern.

The latter also designed the conclusion of the 1000 lights with an atmospheric torchlight procession.
