A 32-year-old man died Tuesday morning after jumping from the Millau viaduct (Aveyron) while base-jumping, we learned from the emergency services.
The circumstances of the death of this man, during this 200m high jump from the viaduct which overlooks the Tarn, are not yet known.
Alerted at 8:30 a.m., the Aveyron firefighters could only see his death.
The town of Millau, in the south of Aveyron, is particularly popular with extreme sports enthusiasts, despite a ban on parachuting from the viaduct issued by the prefecture in May 2022.
Base-jumping is a thrilling sport consisting of jumping into space from a platform (bridge, building, cliff, etc.) before opening your parachute.
