“He was in great shape. Nothing could have predicted his death.
And yet, despite the saddened report of his spokesperson, the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Makeï, 64, was found dead at his home in Minsk last Saturday.
A farewell ceremony took place on Tuesday to honor him before his burial in the eastern cemetery of the Belarusian capital.
The official causes of death were not known on Tuesday, with independent Belarusian sources citing cardiac arrest.
It was enough for questions to arise around this death considered suspicious by some, and for speculation to arise on the disappearance of this close friend of President Alexander Lukashenko.
