Covid-19: as the epidemic “returns”, Borne recommends wearing a mask in transport

The Prime Minister indicated on Tuesday that "more than 40,000" new cases were detected each day, and she was worried about the too low rate of vaccination reminders in the face of a virus which "still kills".


The Covid epidemic is starting again.

This is the observation made by the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, during questions to the government on Tuesday, November 29.

Asked by Horizons MP Laurent Marcangeli on this subject, the head of government clarified that “

more than 40,000 cases

” were detected every day.

"

An increase of almost 10% in hospitalizations in one week, a 22% increase in hospitalizations in critical care and 400 deaths from Covid last week

" are to be deplored, she also listed.

"

This new wave reminds us: the virus has not disappeared, the epidemic still strikes, kills again

," she added.

Very strong hospital pressure

The Prime Minister also specified that, in the weeks to come, the hospital would again have to “

face additional pressure

” due to the resumption of the Covid, but also, to an epidemic of bronchiolitis “

the highest of the ten recent years

”.

Situation which causes tensions on the pediatric services, and to which is added “

a particularly virulent seasonal flu epidemic this year

”.

Faced with this multiplication of viruses, Elisabeth Borne launched “

a solemn appeal

” for the application of the various preventive measures.

Let's respect the barrier gestures, wear the mask as soon as we are with fragile people or in crowded areas

", she urged, referring in particular to transport.

"

The flu vaccination is very low this year

," she finally warned, adding that "

only 10%

" of the population at risk had taken their vaccine against Covid-19.
