A 16-year-old minor, the main suspect in the death of young Djibril, 14, killed on Sunday during a brawl in Coignières (Yvelines), was referred on Tuesday November 29 for an indictment for the murder of a minor under the age of 15, said the Versailles prosecutor's office, contacted by AFP.
The prosecution requested that the suspect be indicted for attempted murder and requested that he be remanded in custody.
Brawl between two gangs of rival youths
This young man from Coignières presented himself to the police on Sunday afternoon as being the author of the fatal blows to Djibril.
The teenager died on the night of Saturday to Sunday during a brawl between two rival gangs of young people, from Coignières and the neighboring town of Maurepas, where the victim was from.
The clash broke out in front of a gymnasium shortly after an MMA (mixed martial arts) gala where many young people had gone with their families.
The victim received blows to the head - possibly from a hammer - which were fatal to him.
Another 16-year-old was also injured in the clash.
