In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "the case is known to the Department for Israelis Abroad and the Consul in Athens and has been handled for some time. The matter is under review with the relevant authorities."

An Israeli about 60 years old went on vacation in Greece and was arrested today (Tuesday) after arriving in Crete.

The Israeli is now arrested in Crete and is facing extradition to the United States.

The case started a few years ago, after an Israeli fled her from the US to Israel and here the court decided that she would not be deported back and that she would receive asylum in Israel.

The Israeli woman who is currently detained in Greece, fled the US with her three children claiming that her ex-husband, who had already passed away, behaved violently.

The international arrest warrant remained in place despite Israel's decision to grant asylum to that Israeli woman and now, when she went on vacation in Greece, she was arrested and is facing extradition to the United States.

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the case is known to the Department for Israelis Abroad and the Athens Consul and has been being handled for some time.

The matter is under review with the relevant authorities.
