The Mahag site in Grünwald could be redesigned based on the model of the famous Jardin de Luxembourg in Paris.
At least that's how the Greens could imagine it and have now presented their idea to the municipal council.
Grünwald
– Moldy, in need of renovation: The Greens faction has now submitted an application to redesign the former Mahag site on Südliche Münchner Strasse in Grünwald.
A park with a community hall is being considered, which could be suitable for festivals, theater performances, dance festivals, cinema and much more.
As a result, Bettina Schreyer and her parliamentary group colleagues hope to improve the quality of life in the center.
increase citizen satisfaction
Chess, boule, talks.
In short, it should be a small Jardin de Luxembourg.
The original, a jewel of landscape architecture, is located in the heart of Paris and is one of the most beautiful parks in Europe, where even the deaf can feel ennobled.
The green zone in the urban area should also increase the satisfaction of the citizens in Grünwald.
But nothing came of it.
The Greens were alone in the municipal council with their wishes, they found no support.
Deutsche Post has recently moved into the building
That may be due to the arguments listed by the head of the building authority, Stefan Rothörl: Eleven years ago, the community bought the Mahag property on Südliche Münchner Strasse as a reserve property.
The original idea was to start an urban planning competition to find a future purpose for the square.
But in the meantime, many necessities intervened.
Deutsche Post has recently moved into the building and is initially providing its services here for a limited period of one year.
Asylum seekers have had accommodation on the upper floor since 2015, and Ukrainian refugees are currently living here.
The association "Help from person to person" has its headquarters on the ground floor.
The building yard stores equipment, materials and bicycles here.
The traditional costume association parks its Leonhardi wagon on the apparently quite spacious site, and a tractor from the TSV stands there.
There is so much space here that discarded office furniture from the municipal property office is also stored.
Critical mood for realization
All of this is now an integral part of the Mahag.
In the event of over-planning, replacement rooms would have to be kept available.
Apart from that, according to the head of the building authority, Stefan Rothörl, there are many places for the citizens: the August-Everding hall, the school canteen, the Römerschanz community center, the old gymnasium, the castle, the church halls.
Michael Ritz (FDP) was able to understand the arguments of the administration very well.
"Where should the uses go?" The proposals of the Greens are not enough for him to tackle now.
Alexander Steininger (CSU) wants to leave the urban development at the site to a later municipal council.
A wide, green area on the spot, a Jardin de Luxembourg?
Not easy to imagine for Oliver Schmidt (PBG).

Application will not be pursued
Ultimately, Bettina Schreyer backtracked a bit and spoke of food for thought that she wanted to give: "After all, I've only been on the municipal council for two years and I also want to be involved in big projects." This refreshing honesty brought a sympathetic impetus to the meeting with a lot of laughter .
The motion of the Greens, however, will not be pursued any further.
