Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi affirmed that the presence of American forces in the region does not serve security and stability in it, and that the exit of those forces from it is necessary to enhance its security, indicating that the security of the region is guaranteed with the cooperation of its countries.

Raisi said in a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani in Tehran today: The American presence in Afghanistan did not help in establishing security in that country.

Raisi explained that the Iranian-Iraqi relations are not normal, but have deep roots, and that the Iraqi government has a fundamental role in enhancing security in the region and combating terrorism, expressing his country's readiness to strengthen joint relations with Iraq in various fields.

For his part, Al-Sudani said: His visit to Tehran is to strengthen the bonds of foreign relations between the two countries, which necessitates us to work and joint coordination in various fields, including the fight against terrorism, extremism and drugs that threaten the peoples of the region.

Al-Sudani added: We will discuss security problems, and there is a formula for understanding, and a mechanism for field work and coordination will be found to avoid any escalation, and we affirm the Iraqi government's commitment to developing prospects for cooperation with Iran, pointing out that the security of the two countries is an integral part of the security of the region, and that Iraq will not be a springboard to harm neighboring countries.

The Iraqi Prime Minister also noted Iran's position in supporting Iraq in the supply of gas and electricity and in confronting the terrorist organization ISIS.
