The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, affirmed that the security of Iraq is a priority for his country, and that Iran is ready to confront any party that tries to destabilize and destabilize this security.
Khamenei said during his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani in Tehran: “Iraq’s progress and its attainment of its lofty and true status will benefit Iran,” expressing his hope that it will achieve progress and enjoy its true and lofty status, which is represented in harmony and unity among its internal components.
Khamenei added, “There are enemies of Iraq’s progress and some Iraqi regions are used to threaten Iran’s security, and the solution is for the central government in Baghdad to impose its control there.”
In his turn, Al-Sudani referred to the strategic and historical relations between Iran and Iraq, noting Iran's supportive positions for Iraq in the fight against terrorism, especially the organization (ISIS).
Al-Sudani affirmed his country's keenness to ensure the provision of security and not to use Iraqi lands to destabilize the security of its neighbors.
Al-Sudani also stressed that the Iraqi government is determined to implement bilateral agreements with Iran and develop relations with it, especially in the economic field.
