Saturday was colourful, contemplative and full of atmosphere between the town hall and the sports center in Kranzberg.

The reason for this was the Christmas market, which was to initiate the first weekend in Advent.

Mulled wine and punch were not only available in large quantities, but also in a wide variety of varieties, as well as waffles, crêpes and lots of hearty dishes.

People from Kranzberg and the surrounding communities heralded the pre-Christmas period.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The joy was written all over the guests' faces, which was no wonder after two years of not going to the popular market.

And the weather was also kind to the Kranzbergers - cool, as it should be at the Christmas market, but the entire Saturday was sunny.

There was one innovation around the traditional Advent market in the organization: Up to now it was the sports club that took over the entire planning.

"We were not able to cope with that due to the past Ukraine benefit event and our upcoming anniversary celebration in 2022," said sports club boss Anton Hierhager.

Instead, the Sweden shooters and the Catholic rural youth jumped in.

On the pleasure mile in Kranzberg not only a lot of culinary things were offered.

"We were happy to leave it to the young people," said Hierhager, "we're all always in close contact." However, the visitors did not notice this organizational change.

And so on Saturday not only the culinary offer was wide-ranging.

The Kranzberg Christmas market-goers were also delighted with bath bombs, hand-carved wooden boards, Christmas decorations and beautiful Advent wreaths.

"All proceeds from the wreaths and flower arrangements go to the sports club," explained Rosi Ostermaier.

The flower arrangements were handmade the days before the event, sold like hot cakes on Saturday and will now accompany many families through the contemplative time.
