Since last July Calcaterra has been extraordinary commissioner of the Municipality of Casamicciola after the dissolution of the institution due to the resignation of the majority of councilors.
The appointment was decided on Sunday by the CDM but the opinion of the Region is binding.
For years he has been fighting to "find a practicable and common-sense solution to unauthorized use", and today, after the Casamicciola tragedy, the mayor of Casal di Principe, Renato Natale, is clear: "in Ischia - he says - we need to demolish because it deals with houses in areas at risk but it must be done on the basis of a state plan. In Casal di Principe it is different".
"With us - he says - there are no situations of risk in the area but houses built with sacrifice and in years when the state was not there, but the Camorra was in charge: they must be saved so as not to create social and housing problems".
A dl Ischia, with aid to the areas affected by the landslide, should be examined by the Council of Ministers on Thursday.
Among the measures being studied to be included in the legislative decree, for the areas in which a state of emergency has already been declared, the municipalities of Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno, there would also be the suspension of taxes until the end of the year, with a commitment to renew it in 2023, the extension of the obligations for professionals who cannot work due to the damage caused by the exceptional meteorological events that hit the island on Saturday, and the extension for another year of the dismantling of the branch courts.
