The Wallberg retirement home is in new hands.

After the change of ownership, there is now a new operator.

And he immediately discontinued the “Meals on Wheels” service.

Rottach-Egern/Tegernsee Valley

– For the over 80-year-old from Tegernsee, the termination came completely unexpectedly: in a letter, the Wallberg Betriebsgesellschaft mbH senior residence – the new operator of the retirement home on Rottacher Roßwandweg from December 1 – informed her that she was “for economic reasons Reasons” had to stop supplying “Meals on Wheels”.

The letter is dated November 23, and the supply will end on December 16.

That comes a "little suddenly," complains the senior citizen, who prefers to remain anonymous.

"It's antisocial."

New operator: Only eleven clients are affected by the cessation of catering

In fact, those affected must now look for a new provider.

"We're sorry for the individual fates, but we have to keep an eye on the big picture," says Carmen Wolff-Heinrich from the Auvictum group of companies when asked by the

Tegernseer Zeitung

.

The Hanau-based company, which specializes in the operation of nursing homes and residential homes, takes care of the operative business in the senior citizens' residence on behalf of the new owner of the Rottacher senior citizens' residence, the real estate developer Carestone from Hanover.

Wolff-Heinrich speaks of only eleven clients who are affected by the discontinuation of the "Meals on Wheels" offer.

Maintaining this service, including delivery, for such a small group of people is “not economically viable”.

Wallberg retirement home: "We have to work on the economic side"

Rather, Auvictum's main concern is to preserve the location of the Wallberg retirement home and the jobs there.

Since the new operator is not considered the legal successor to the GmbH of the manager and operator Peter Wisgott, who died unexpectedly in February 2021, no existing contracts were taken over, stresses Wolff-Heinrich.

So you are currently in negotiations about a new supply contract.

The existing care for the residents, which Wisgott has built up with his employees, is excellent, adds the Auvictum employee.

"But we have to work on the economic side."

Does the senior citizens' residence still have a future for school meals?

It is not yet clear whether other clients in the region will feel the effects of this.

The Wallberg retirement home has so far provided food not only to private individuals, but also to institutions such as the Realschule in Finsterwald, the crèche in Gmund or the elementary and middle school in Rottach-Egern.

Those responsible are now worried that the new operator could stop catering.

Secondary school director Tobias Schreiner would like to continue the partnership

"The company has already informed us by telephone that there is a need to talk about possible changes in school catering," reports secondary school director Tobias Schreiner when asked.

There should be a face-to-face meeting later this week.

Only then will it become clear whether the cooperation has a future.

In any case, the headmaster would be very keen to continue the “very close and successful partnership” with the retirement home, which has now lasted for 13 years.

Mayor Christian Köck (CSU) also has an appointment this week where the new operators would like to introduce themselves.

He is also very interested in ensuring that the catering for the local elementary and middle school continues as before.

At least there is a contract, even if the new operators do not feel bound by it.

Mayor Köck: Property may only be used as a retirement home

School meals are one thing.

But it is also important to the head of the town hall that the elderly in the residence continue to be well cared for.

The use was therefore secured by an urban planning contract.

Köck: "Anything other than a retirement home is out of the question here."
