Opinion The fast lane is full Israel today

And that all these hundreds and maybe thousands don't explode from standing for 40 unnecessary minutes in traffic? Don't tell me about cost of living. They own a private car directly or through the slip

At least twice a week I make my way from the Holy City to the metropolis of Tel Aviv.

With the departure from Jerusalem I deal somehow;

He makes the beautiful road rather quickly, flies past the gate of the ravine and remembers forever the names, glances to the right towards the fields of sallows guarding the shemita, gets excited about the Inba exchange and the airport and then stops, of course, in front of the huge and proud traffic bulwark, the busy Ayalon routes.

This slowdown, which can add up to a long, long time, is annoying.

Since it usually occurs in the early hours, it sometimes also manages to spoil the whole day after it and make me irritable in the morning.

Apes, it's been a few years since this matter was partially resolved, this is due to the other miracle that is taking place over the Ayalon stream: the fast lane!

The fast tolled route to Tel Aviv north, which starts after Ben-Gurion Airport and ends between La Guardia and Shalom, sometimes shortens the time of standing in traffic at the entrance to Tel Aviv by about 70 percent.

It is pleasant and comfortable, fast and time-saving - and at an affordable price for everyone.

I drive it quickly, and I will not deny that while driving I also sneak glances to the right at my brothers and sisters who are numb and swept away in the traffic, and my heart groans with pity and feelings of arrogance.

And suddenly I ask myself the obvious question: wait, wait, wait.

Why am I the only one here and thousands of cars are left there?

Why is my toll lane almost completely open, and the normal road is packed to the brim?

And that all these hundreds and maybe thousands don't explode from standing for 40 unnecessary minutes in traffic (yes, it's sometimes 40 minutes)?

After all, the price of using this route ranges from only seven shekels during light rush hours to a few tens during normal rush hours and many tens at most during heavy rush hours.

So please, don't tell me expensive stories.

These are people who mostly own a private car directly or through their paycheck.

Are they really unable to meet this (known) expense, which could have given them many hours of precious time and peace of mind every month?

Admit that this is a deep and important question, the answer to which can illuminate important corners of the Israeli experience.

It is perfectly clear that this is due to some inherent national avarice or some other deep psychological reason.

One wise man said to me and made me burst out laughing: "Listen, you're absolutely right. But I'm not capable. I don't think I deserve it. I myself think that the solution lies in the basic suspicion that the founding fathers, who are crazy about socialism, have towards commercial entities and service providers.

"The Israeli has an internal engine, which makes him regard everything that is commercial and that is intended for making money as theft and cheating. To pay? Ugh! For what, for what?".

And while I'm presenting all the options, one wise woman says to me: "What are you even talking about? That's how it is with the Israelis. Look at the job of putting together the coalition. It's exactly the same. Even when there is a fast track, they will always prefer the long and tiring track ( And I say: And in the end it will also cost them more)".
