The gynecologist and specialist in endometriosis Émile Daraï, indicted on November 24 for "aggravated voluntary violence" on 32 patients will be able to continue to exercise his profession within the framework of public consultations, indicated in a press release the Public Assistance - Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP).
The practitioner is placed under judicial supervision with
"prohibition of contact with the victims"
and "
prohibition of holding private gynecological consultations
", specified the establishment in the same press release.
Mandatory presence of a member of staff during the consultations
Since September 2021, the doctor was already the subject of an internal investigation.
The general director of the AP-HP-Sorbonne University as well as the president of the local establishment medical commission and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Sorbonne University had indeed commissioned a commission of inquiry composed of a gynecologist- obstetrician, a doctor from the university hospital community of Sorbonne University, a representative of users and a member of the administrative management of the faculty of medicine, specifies the Tenon hospital.

Several measures had already been taken by the hospital.
In particular, Dr Daraï had his responsibilities as head of department and head of education removed in October 2021.
For example, he no longer had the right to supervise clinical internships.
Today, at each consultation, a member of the nursing staff is present alongside Dr. Daraï.
The AP-HP also notes that "
the consent of patients is collected and traced before carrying out the acts carried out during the consultations
".
The hospital's report concerning the practitioner's actions was sent to the Minister of Health and Solidarity, the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) .
