Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied transmitting any messages from Russian President Vladimir Putin to French President Emmanuel Macron through Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev after the latter's visit to Moscow.

Russia Today website quoted Peskov as saying today, commenting on a journalist's question about whether Putin had conveyed any message to Macron via Tokayev: "No, it did not happen."

Tokayev arrived in Paris after his visit to Moscow, and met with the French President at the Elysee Palace.

On the other hand, Peskov described the negotiations with Ukraine as "impossible", due to the intransigence of the authorities in Kyiv.

Peskov said in response to statements by German President Walter Steinmeier to a German channel: Any calls for a ceasefire are not really serious now, because Kyiv completely rejects them, and that is why the Russian special military operation continues.
