Russia's deputy representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, confirmed that the Palestinian people are constantly exposed to bloody tragedies because of the Israeli use of violence and force.
Russia Today website quoted Polyansky as saying during a Security Council session last night on the situation in the Middle East: “According to the information received, the use of force by the Israeli authorities in the West Bank during the current year resulted in the killing of more than 130 Palestinians, which makes it the year the deadliest in nearly two decades.
Polyansky added: The actions of the Israeli occupation authorities, including the construction of settlements and the confiscation of Palestinian property, as well as the use of violence, have resulted in effects that are difficult to remove for the Palestinian people and the occupied territories.
During the Security Council session, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wiensland, said: "The international community pays less attention to the Palestinian cause because of the crisis in Ukraine and other global developments, which contributed to the exacerbation of the suffering of the Palestinians."
