Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced today that his country is taking a hard stance on setting a ceiling on the price of Russian oil, stressing that this is unacceptable regardless of the level of this alleged ceiling.

Sputnik quoted Novak as saying in statements to reporters during the activities of the fourth Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum: “Regardless of the price ceiling, even if it is high, this is unacceptable in principle and from the point of view of concluding contracts.”

Novak noted that Russia ranked second among oil suppliers to China, and LNG shipments from Russia to China increased by 32 percent over ten months.

For his part, CEO of the Russian "Rosneft" Igor Sechin announced that gas supplies through pipelines from Russia to China will exceed 100 billion cubic meters annually in the near future.

Sechin said in statements during the forum: “At the same time, the capabilities of the Russian natural gas resource base greatly exceed these quantities. We are talking about redirecting Siberian gas reserves from Europe and a vast resource base in eastern Russia,” noting that coal supplies from Russia to China for 10 months amounted to 53 million tons, or about 23 percent of total imports to China.

He pointed out that the supply of electricity also from Russia to China for a period of 10 months of 2022 increased by 33 percent compared to the same period last year.
