Seating with a signal effect: this year, the people of Germeringer were asked how they imagine Untere Bahnhofstraße.
Now there were results.
The Germeringer are largely in agreement that something has to change.
However, their solutions are very different.

What does the future of Germering's Unterer Bahnhofstrasse look like?
A week of action was dedicated to this topic.
Germering – The result is now clear: it is recommended to reduce speed and create more space for cargo bikes.
This should increase the quality of stay.
Less speed on the street and more space for cargo bikes - that's what the environmental and urban development committee of the city administration for Untere Bahnhofstraße is saying.
The committee also unanimously spoke out in favor of preparing a competition aimed at replanning the area between the station underpass and the small Stachus.
Red seat
In mid-May, the “Space Station Collective” organized an action week in which citizens and tradespeople could take part.
In principle, the aim was to collect ideas on how Untere Bahnhofstrasse could change.
Among other things, workshops were offered and surveys designed.
The striking sign of the week was the conspicuous red seating that was placed in a parking lot in front of a shop.
Sarah Zelt and Gunnar Grandel now presented the results of more than 200 surveys for the Vienna-based “Collective Raumstation”.
“The Germeringers are largely in agreement that something has to change.
However, their solutions are very different,” Zelt drew the basic conclusion.
Straight down to 20 km/h?
Grandel added that it was surprising "that different needs are not mutually exclusive".
Quality of stay is definitely compatible with good accessibility and parking spaces with seating.
The latter will be stored by the building yard over the winter, but should be used again from next spring 2023.
Until then, the administration will deal with the other tasks that the environment and urban development committee gave them to do.
This includes reducing speed.
Barbara Mokler (Greens) suggested going down to 20 km/h straight away.
"That would provide relaxation in every relationship," she justified her request.
CSU city councilor Katrin Schmidt found that the reduction in speed "is basically a good signal".
The idea went furthest by Johann Pichelmaier (CSU), who wanted to remove through traffic between the train station and Kleiner Stachus.

The committee members also agreed to present the results of the campaign week to the city council in its entirety at the next opportunity.
The “Space Station Collective” did a good job, said Benedikt Nesselhauf (CSU).
The effort was justified by the importance of the road.
Charging stations for e-cars
The second mayor, Manuela Kreuzmair (CSU), joined as chair of the session: "They were very committed," she praised the employees of the collective.
The action week helped to bring paths and ideas together.
After the week of action, the Germering business association also spoke up.
"It must be stated that it is more of a thoroughfare than a shopping street," it said in its statement.
A speed reduction was also discussed on his part.
From the point of view of the shops located in Untere Bahnhofstraße, it is also conceivable to keep delivery parking spaces free for certain times.
This is to avoid double parking.
Also on the wish list of the trade association: the tree population should be preserved and quick charging stations for e-mobility should be created.
